Dear friends, hello!
I want to share with you my new craft, which I made in a couple of evenings. This is an exclusive, cardboard floor vase with a height of just over 60 cm. I used 1 mm cardboard as a base. And I made the template from a store vase, but I will write all the sizes, so you can repeat it without the presence of a vase.
For making, I used:
· Cardboard 1 mm thick;
· Hot glue and PVA construction glue;
· Thin foamiran with a thickness of about 1 mm;
· Dry peas;
· Masking tape;
· Knife, scissors, brushes, marker;
· Silicone sealant and stones;
· Acrylic paints;
· Universal varnish in a spray can;
As an assistant (preferably, but not necessary) a cat.
The store vase cost 1,500 rubles, and I made an exclusive one, which you can't buy anywhere for just 300 rubles and 2 evenings. I constantly do crafts and did not buy anything specifically for this vase, but I counted the materials as they were spent.
Step 1.
I put the purchased vase on a piece of cardboard, circled it and cut out the first part.
In the first part, I circled and cut out the rest. I also cut 2 squares on the bottom and neck of the vase.
Here are the dimensions of the workpiece. You can vary them as you wish.
Step 2.
With masking tape I temporarily fastened 2 parts together and glued them from the inside with hot glue.
Then he glued 2 halves together into a whole piece.
Step 3.
Where the bottom will be, I glued a piece of cardboard to a depth of 10 cm.
Using stones and silicone filled the bottom.
Then he covered it all up with a piece of cardboard.
Step 4.
I cut a frame out of cardboard and glued it in at a depth of 15 cm from the side of the neck - this is for the rigidity of the structure. Although it was possible to do without it, the vase in the end turned out to be so strong.
I made the neck of the vase with the same cardboard.
Step 5.
I cut the foamiran into pieces of different sizes and pasted them over the whole vase with PVA glue. I glued it at random, somewhere with an overlap, somewhere I left gaps between the pieces. This creates an interesting texture.
Step 6.
On the edges of the foamiran pieces, I glued halves of peas, which imitate rivets.
Step 7.
I painted the entire vase, and inside, as far as I got it with my hand, with black acrylic paint and left it to dry for 1 hour.
Then, using the "dry brush" method, I applied dark brown acrylic paint.
Then, with a little dark green paint, it will give the vase the look of oxidized metal.
And in the end, he walked in a bronze color.
A little advice on how to make acrylic paint of any color very cheaply and in any quantities (especially in small quantities). We take acrylic varnish and add a little tint of the desired color to it. The result is a paint of the desired saturated color.
Step 8.
When the paint was dry, I covered it 2 times with varnish from a spray can.
Here is such a vase in a single copy I got.
Important note! The vase is well varnished, it can be washed with soap, but only outside. A vase for dry and decorative bouquets, but if you wish, you can modify it and pour water into it, I didn't have such a goal.
It turned out to be very stable, since the center of gravity is at the very floor. Even if you wish, it is not easy to overturn it. Even when tilted more than 45 degrees, it does not fall!
If you don't believe me, watch the video, at the end I showed everything:
