I thought and decided that today's article will be devoted to the installation of ball valves. It turns out that many do not know how to do it correctly!

How to install the ball valve correctly, which side to the riser? The difference is significant
I propose to start from the beginning - from the technology of production of valves. Each ball valve is a metal, one-piece piece. The ball itself cannot be shoved into the body, holding it with gaskets, unless the product is divided into parts in advance.

What we have? Cranes are created on a conveyor belt, each product is assembled by hand. First, the parts are made on machine tools, and then fall into the hands of the company's employees. The crane structure contains the elements shown in the picture below:

Let's go back to the ball, or rather to the ball valve. This part is placed in the body, after which it is pressed with a nut. As a result, the ball sits tightly between the layers of the seal. But, no matter how reliable this connection is, it is collapsible, which means that the risk of leaks is not excluded.

The ball valve can work in both directions. But there is a very vulnerable spot in this detail - factory connection of the nut to the valve body. As a rule, this is where leaks occur, since the tightness of the connection decreases over time. This can happen for several reasons:

  • manufacturing defects;
  • poor quality part;
  • the occurrence of a water hammer in the system;
  • expired operating life of the crane.

As a rule, inexperienced installers do not pay attention to which side they put the ball valve on. It is desirable that the integral part of the body is attached to the pressure source. In some cases, it is because of a crane malfunction that emergencies occur.

Correctly the ball valve should be installed like this:

The picture shows that even if the body bursts along the seam, the shutter from the body will not go anywhere. Although the product will lose its tightness, the shutter will restrain the working flow. This will save you from critical situations: a flood or a gas explosion.

Professional installers install fittings correctly. This rule also works for electricians: the phase must be on the right side. Experienced, good masters always use this simple knowledge.
