Why did the Nazis not use "Fau" missiles against the USSR

Even before the outbreak of World War II, Germany had made great strides in rocketry. The new government of the country considered such developments primarily from the standpoint of the possibility of using them as a new weapon. During the war, the Germans managed to create and even launched "V" rockets. However, the question remains open as to why the new miracle weapon was never used against the Soviet Union.

Rockets "Fau" were supposed to be another miracle weapon, which, according to the plan of the Nazis, was to help Germany come to world domination. In all fairness, it should be noted that the V-2 product really became the first long-range ballistic missile in the military history of mankind. Moreover, the Germans were able to use the "V" against Great Britain. Considering all this, the question arises as to why Germany did not use the "weapon of retaliation" against the Soviet Union.

In fact, everything is extremely simple. At the time of the first application of the "V-2" during the Second World War, this technology remained extremely imperfect. The development potential was colossal, but the Nazis could not bring the miracle weapon to mind in a war on several fronts. First of all, there were not enough resources for this. In the second - time.

The first ballistic missile had many disadvantages. Cost "V-2" just colossal money - almost 120 thousand Reichsmarks. For the same funds, it was possible to order the Tiger tank in the best configuration. At the same time, Fau remained extremely unreliable. More than half of the nearly 4,200 missiles launched by Germany either failed to take off or exploded right on the site. In addition, the missile had low accuracy and easily deviated from the target point of destruction by 5-10 km.

All this made the use of V-missiles absolutely unprofitable, especially against the Soviet Union. The fact is that combat launches began only in 1944. Considering the speed of the Paint Army's advance towards Berlin, such missiles could do nothing to help the Wehrmacht.
