This is exactly what the title of the question from the reader Xenia sounded like.
I continue to publish the questions that readers asked me. For new dear readers who came to my channel for the first time, I would like to inform you that this is already 27 such publication. You can familiarize yourself with some other questions and answers to them by clicking on the links at the bottom of this article.
The text of the question from Xenia itself was quite simple and sounded like this:
Hello!
In my apartment, a TV, a modem and a TV set-top box are connected to one tee. After running the Internet and connecting Internet TV, a month and a half later, the power wire of the new modem burned out. I replaced the wire from a similar modem (they differ only in the presence of wi-fi antennas), the wire served for a year and burned out again. At the same time, the set-top box and the TV are in order, they work as usual, I also changed the tee.
The connection diagram is as follows: the set-top box is connected via hdmi to the TV and via LAN to the modem, nothing else is connected to it.
What is the problem, why is only the modem wire on?
Thank you for your consideration, goodbye!
I gave the following answer to Xenia's question:
Good day!
I want to clarify what exactly goes wrong, the modem power wire itself (cord, wires, you see melted insulation or the place of destruction of the cable cores) or the power supply located at the end of this the cord itself? The thing is that the cord itself consists of several elements, each of which can fail for various reasons.
A reduced voltage is used to power the modem, therefore a converter is used to obtain this value from a household 230 V network. As a rule, this is the most vulnerable node in the modem's power supply circuit. Of the reasons for each node, the following should be distinguished:
- Power Supply - sensitive to the quality of electrical energy coming from electrical circuits, especially to overloads, overvoltages. If there are frequent horse racing in your area, this is the most likely cause. To eliminate the causes, you must install a good voltage stabilizer.
- Power cord - as a rule, it does not burn out from short-circuit currents, since the main blow falls on the power supply. However, it is often damaged by mechanical shocks, cuts and other influences. Sometimes, for example, pets are the culprits of breakdowns.
- Plug and the connection unit break down very rarely, but, in a particular case, this can occur due to excessive bending, mechanical fracture, fall, impact and other influences.
I want to note that the cause of breakage for both cords can be different, so you should check both during the analysis.
Thanks for reading to the end! And I would be grateful if you shared the article with friends on social networks. Special thanks for like and subscription - stay on the "ASUTPP" channel further!
