Good afternoon, my reader. Lily is a rather demanding plant and loves careful care. For the timely onset of flowering, top dressing is required, otherwise small single buds are formed.

Feeding rules

For the harmonious development of the lily, the nutritional composition is regulated depending on the growth phase, season and type of fertilization.

Spring fertilization is a fundamental action that strengthens the plant at the start and speeds up the growing season. Upon awakening, the bulb consumes its supply of nutrients for the growth of leaves and inflorescences, and it quickly runs out.

The right moment for feeding is calculated by 2 indicators:

  1. The surface of the earth warmed up to + 6-7 ° С;
  2. The stem has reached a height of 10-12 cm. The shorter flower is not fertilized as it is not yet able to absorb food from the ground.

At this stage, the lily needs nitrogen and phosphorus. The size of the buds and the brightness of the color directly depend on the content of these macronutrients. Both organic and mineral compounds are used as a power source. Pay attention to the ratio of potassium, magnesium, nitrogen, phosphorus.

The dose of mineral fertilizers per 1 sq. m and 10 liters of water:

  1. Ammonium nitrate - 1 tbsp. l.
  2. Azofoska or nitrophoska - 1 tbsp. l.
  3. Nitroammofosk - 1.5 tbsp. l.
  4. Kalimagnesia - 20 g.

Organic application:

  1. Cow dung. It is not used in its pure form, as it burns the roots, and they die off. An infusion is made from 1 part of manure and 4 parts of water. Withstand 10 days, stir from time to time. For 10 liters of clean water, add 1 liter of manure solution and water the lilies.
  2. Ash. Stir 1 glass of the substance in a bucket of water and use immediately. The second time is fed with ash in the middle of summer to prolong flowering. At this time, liquid dressings are more effective than long-dissolving granular dressings.

The flowering phase will be supported by:

  • potassium magnesium - 1 tbsp. l. 10 liters;
  • superphosphate - 2 tbsp. l .;
  • azofosk, ammofosk or nitrophoska - 1.5 tbsp. l.

These mineral dressings contribute to the brightness of the petals and the build-up of green mass.

Top dressing with bread infusion brings a good result:

  1. The bread is cut into small cubes and poured over with water.
  2. If there are dandelions or nettles, they are also crushed and added.
  3. The container is placed in a warm place for 10 days. The solution emits an unpleasant odor during fermentation, so it is better to keep it in a farm building.
  4. For 10 liters of water, 1 liter of infusion is enough.

To preserve calcium in the soil, which will be washed out by bread yeast, wood ash is added.

In the fall, fertilizers are also indispensable. During this time, the bulb accumulates nutrients and prepares for the hibernation period. After flowering, they are fed with compounds with phosphorus and potassium. They participate in the formation of a new growth point, increase the immunity and winter hardiness of the lily. The flowerbed is covered with a layer of humus or compost. Such mulch will not only protect against frost, but also saturate the earth with microelements.
