Traditional methods
Currant bushes must be carefully examined. Shoots and leaves affected by aphids are cut off, which are then burned. After that, you can use proven effective folk remedies.
Tobacco infusion
You will need 500 g of tobacco dust, which is poured into a 10-liter container with water. Leave for 72 hours. Then, 100 g of fine shavings obtained from grated laundry soap are added to the infusion with active stirring. It should completely dissolve in the liquid. Shrubs are sprayed.
Wormwood infusion
Fresh juicy stems of wormwood are cut, along with leaves and inflorescences. Raw materials (500 g) are finely chopped, put in a bowl, where 5 liters of settled water are collected. Add a glass of sifted wood ash and grated laundry soap - 45 grams. The mixture is vigorously stirred and left to stand for 5 hours. Then the finished infusion is filtered, after which it is diluted 1: 2 with clean water and used to irrigate currant bushes.
Infusion of garlic
You will need to finely chop 500 g of garlic cloves. Raw materials are transferred into a five-liter container with water. Withstand 24 hours. Before spraying, the infusion must be filtered using a double gauze pad.
Infusion of celandine
The aboveground part of the celandine is cut off. Shred into small pieces and transfer 4 kg of raw materials into a 10-liter bucket with settled water. After daily infusion, the product is filtered. Spraying of currant bushes affected by aphids is carried out.
Soda solution
Pour 10 liters of water into a volumetric container. With vigorous stirring, pour in soda ash - 2 tbsp. l., powdered or grated tar soap - 30 g and inject pharmaceutical iodine - 1 tsp. l. The liquid must be filtered, and then the currant bushes must be irrigated.
Infusion of marigolds
You will need dry marigold inflorescences. Fill a bucket with them to half the volume. Then, warm settled water is poured to the very top. Leave for 72 hours, after which the infusion is filtered and used for processing currant plantings.
It is advisable to spray currant bushes attacked by aphids with folk remedies on a windless dry evening. Control that the leaf blades are wetted with liquid on both sides. If after the treatment it rains heavily, you will have to repeat it.
Application of insecticides
If large populations of aphids are found on currant bushes, you will have to use stronger and effective professional drugs, since folk remedies in such a situation will not allow to destroy pests.
The first spraying of plantings is timed to the period when the buds are already hatching. Re-processing is practiced a month before the start of ripening of berries. It is strictly forbidden to use chemicals on the eve of harvest.
Examples of the most effective drugs: Kinmix, Aktara, Aktellik. They use successfully "Karbofos", "Fufanon", "Iskra". The preparation of working solutions is carried out, focusing on the instructions, without exceeding the optimal dosages.
In the process of work, use personal protective equipment. Clothing should be tight, covering arms and legs. Eyes are protected with glasses. Be sure to use a respirator or cotton-gauze bandage. Put on waterproof gloves on your hands.
Aphids, without taking timely effective control measures, very quickly spreads not only through currant bushes, but also neighboring plantings of cultivated plants. It is important to begin the destruction of this pest at the first signs of appearance, when you can successfully use a variety of folk remedies that are distinguished by safety.
