Landing

There are several rules for caring for roses. The first is the correct fit.

The place is chosen well lit, but without direct sunlight. Some varieties, for example hybrid tea, lose their decorative effect in bright light. The south side of the site is best suited. With the occurrence of groundwater at a depth of at least 1.5 m.

The bushes are planted at a distance from each other. So they do not thicken and are well ventilated. A condition necessary to prevent the appearance of fungal diseases and pests. Adhere to the recommendations:

  • Climbing roses are planted at least 2 m apart.
  • Hybrid tea - 2 m between bushes.
  • Sprawling - 1.5 m.
  • Miniature - 60 cm.
  • Shrub - 1.7 m.

They prefer loamy or light clayey soil, with good aeration. On dense clay soil, good drainage is made by introducing sand or peat into the planting pits.

After planting, the ground around the bush is slightly compacted. This will help avoid voids. If you leave such spaces, the roots will have nothing to cling to.

Care rules

Roses need proper care. There are several conditions that must be met.

Watering

Plants have a deep root system and are able to extract a sufficient amount of moisture from the deep layers of the soil. During the growing season, 1 watering every 14 days is enough. Use soft water. Watered under the root of the bush.

During active growth and formation of buds, the frequency is increased - 1 time in 5 days.

In dry summers, holes up to 20 cm deep are dug at a short distance from the plant. Fresh warm water is poured there and sprinkled with earth.

One adult bush requires up to 5 buckets.

Watering is carried out in the morning, before the onset of heat, or in the evening after sunset. They try to prevent drops from falling on the leaves, this can cause burns.

Top dressing

In order for the flowering to be abundant, large and bright, the rose needs organic fertilizers. They prefer rotted manure or mature compost.

In early spring and in the middle of summer, mineral compositions are added.

Nitrogen - in the first half of April and June.

The last feeding, at the end of summer, is carried out to prepare the bush for wintering. Fertilizers containing phosphorus are used.

Tillage

Rose bushes require regular tillage. Removing weeds is necessary so that the plant does not hurt. Weeds take up nutrients, moisture and attract pests.

The grass is removed and the soil is loosened with a shovel or hand cultivator.

Peat is used during hilling. The layer is made not exceeding 15 cm in height.

Pruning

Pruning is important for roses. In the first year, plants need a procedure such as pinching. It forms the look of the future bush. Remove shoots above the second true leaf. Pay attention to the peephole. It should be located outside, defining the direction of the future branch. The eyes are removed inside.

The flowering of the bush is permissible in the first year after planting. Flowering time is August. Before that, all the buds are cut so that they do not harm the main shoots. One flower is left on each and removed as soon as the first signs of wilting were found. Otherwise, growth slows down.

Preparing for winter

In the fall, foliage on the bushes is not removed, since it contains the necessary nutrients. As soon as the rose has stored a sufficient amount before the cold weather, she will throw them off herself.

The bushes, before covering them for the winter, are cut off, leaving at least 20 cm. Then the base of the bush is sprinkled with earth by 10 cm and covered with spruce branches.

Following these simple rules for caring for roses, a real beauty is grown, which will delight with its abundant flowering.
