First of all, I would like to say that most people are mistaken in assuming that water becomes artesian at a certain depth. Today we will try to figure out what an artesian well is, and what needs to be done to get real artesian water.
An artesian well is understood as a source that is drilled into the ground. It must reach artesian water layers. The main feature that distinguishes artesian water is the presence of pressure. In the process of drilling, the water rises, in some cases it even starts gushing out of the ground with a fountain.
The depth of artesian water is located at different distances from the surface. There is no definite depth to which you need to bury yourself. The upper layers of the earth from the aquifers are separated by two impervious horizons of sand, which are some kind of filters. They prevent rain and groundwater from entering the artesian water, which makes it as clean as possible, and therefore useful for the human body.
You cannot get to artesian water without breaking through these two filter beds. Their thickness, as a rule, reaches 40-50 meters. But these values can be even more, up to 300 meters.
The main advantages of artesian water are its purity. It is considered the most useful. The depth of its occurrence depends on many factors, including the geographical location of the source, the composition of the earth's layers, etc.
If we take averaged values, then an artesian well must reach a depth of at least 100 meters, the maximum depth can even be 1000 meters. To understand whether you have reached artesian water accurately, you should conduct research on the composition of the earth's strata, their structure, pressure measurements and other actions.
Owners of their own plots often want to dig an artesian well. Who doesn't like drinking the purest and wholesome water. In addition, such sources are almost never depleted, i.e. access to water will be available for a very, very long time.
But many do not think about the depth of the well. And this indicator can vary greatly. Roughly speaking, from 50 meters to 1 kilometer. At the same time, drilling an artesian well is very labor intensive and expensive.
Important! Among other things, you cannot extract artesian water if there is no appropriate license for this.
To find out the approximate depth of the source, you should proceed as follows:
- 1. Chat with neighbors on the site.
- 2. Seek the help of specialists who professionally drill wells in the selected area.
- 3. Carefully study the map, which shows where the groundwater is.
- 4. Contact the geological exploration department, ask them for the relevant data.
You also need to remember that there is a law according to which artesian sources are minerals. If there is no license, the use of such waters is punishable.
