Good afternoon, my reader. Many summer residents believe that they had enough problems with pepper seedlings and it is not necessary to form a crown of a bush after planting, let the plants now grow by themselves. But this position is wrong.

It is necessary to form plants from the moment the first fork is formed. This significantly affects the fruiting and the rate of fruit ripening. If the pepper is allowed to branch arbitrarily, many non-fruiting shoots will form, taking a significant part of the food from those on which ovaries can form.

The formation process takes place in several stages.

Removing the crown bud

The pepper first grows with a single stem up to about 15-20 centimeters. At the top, a flower bud is formed - a crown bud. It must be removed both on tall and undersized plants.

After that, the bush begins to actively branch and grows two shoots of the first fork. If the bud is not removed in time, the plant will send a maximum of nutrients to its development, and the remaining branches of the crown will receive less nutrition. Therefore, the kidney is broken out by hand or cut off.

Important. Sometimes 2 or even 3 buds are formed - they should also be removed.

Removing excess shoots

The purpose of the manipulation is to redistribute juices and nutrients to improve the quality of fruiting. Lateral shoots that form during the growth of the stem are removed.

After the appearance of the following forks, proceed as follows:

  • pinch a weak shoot over the first bud;
  • the strong one is left untouched and allowed to branch, while its crown flower and the rest of the buds remain on the branches.

In the same way, continue to cut the forks that grow during the season. This is how the crown of the pepper bush is formed into two trunks. If you wish, you can leave the third one, but only if the bush has enough strength for it.

Removal of sterile shoots and lower leaves

It is necessary to inspect the plant once a week and get rid of sterile shoots (stepchildren) in time. They form below where the main trunk forks.

In addition to the stepchildren, excess leaves and wilted flowers that are not involved in the nutrition of the ovaries are removed from the pepper bushes. Also, as the fruits ripen, you need to cut off the excess leaves - no more than two at a time.

Pinching of skeletal branches

When enough ovaries are formed on the bush, it is necessary to provide conditions for the ripening of the fruits. To do this, a month and a half before the end of the season, the tops of all skeletal branches are cut off. All the strength of the plant will focus on serving the fruits that it already has.

Reference. The number of peppers that can ripen in a season is 15-25 per bush.

In addition to this procedure, you will have to continually prune off the lateral shoots that begin to grow on each skeletal branch (barren shoots).

With this formation of pepper bushes, you can get the maximum yield. Therefore, you should not neglect it.
