It will be a revelation for some, but scissors are mainly composed of two converging and reversing knives. Like any other knives, they also lose their sharpness and become dull. After some time, the scissors stop cutting, they did it right after buying at a hardware or office supply store. It is quite obvious that in such a situation they should be sharpened. Experienced tailors have decades of proven advice for all other citizens on this subject.
It should be noted right away that it is best to sharpen the blades of scissors with the use of special devices: a sharpening stone or emery. Only they will allow you to achieve the maximum index of spice However, very often there are situations when there is no time to tinker with a stone, and more or less working scissors are needed right now. In addition, in our time, many citizens simply may not have an "old-fashioned" abrasive stone for sharpening.
Once in such a situation, you can restore the sharpness of the scissors using the materials at hand. There are two main ways to sharpen quickly. With their help, the instrument can be returned to work in 10-60 seconds, depending on the chosen technique. For work we need a foil and a large needle.

The first method is reduced to cutting the foil with blunt scissors. First, the shiny material is folded in several layers (as tightly as possible). After that, you need to cut it into thin strips. This procedure takes about a minute. After completing a simple operation, the scissors will be almost as good as new. The same thing, only without folding in several layers, can be done with fine-grained sandpaper. In the latter case, you will have to cut twice by turning the scissors over.

The second method is to use a thick, large needle for sharpening. You can also try using a thin nail or knitting needle. The needle is put into the scissors to the very base of the blades, after which you need to start cutting it, as it were. You don't need to press hard, just bring the blades together, forcing the needle to pop out of the sharp vice. A dozen movements should be enough to restore efficiency.
Better yet, go to the store and buy a kitchen hand sharpener for knives and scissors. It costs a penny, it takes up a little more space than a box of matches.
