The customer asked to lay the wiring with a soft wire. I refused. I explain why it is forbidden to do this

Any wiring consists of tens, if not hundreds, of meters of cable. In this case, you need to use suitable wire, otherwise, during operation, it will not withstand the loads, which can lead to disastrous consequences.

It happens that customers insist on laying a soft wire, buying it in advance. I want to tell you why it is better to use a seamless cable. Read and memorize!

When choosing a cable, you need to know for what purpose you will use it. If it is to be posted, it must meet the following criteria:

  • The service life of the wire must be at least 20 years.
  • The insulation must withstand a voltage of at least 660 V.
  • The conductors must be of suitable thickness and made of copper, otherwise overheating may occur.
  • A megohmmeter (megohmmeter) should be used to check the cable. Moreover, the check should be carried out both at the time of purchase and before the immediate termination of the wiring into the wall. If you omit this item, then your wiring will be unfinished. The megometer can be rented without the need for a professional electrician.

Today the following types of wires are sold: soft and hard (seamless). The former do not have external insulation and are capable of operating with a voltage of no more than 380 V.

Rigid cables are covered with two layers of insulation, withstand up to 660 V and have a long service life. For wiring, I recommend stopping the choice on the VVG and NYM brands.

And here are the stamps PUNP, PVS and PBPPG suitable for temporary wiring only.

Do not neglect such a step as checking with a megohmmeter! Without it, any wiring installation is considered incomplete. It is not necessary to buy a megohmmeter, it is better to rent it.

If in some place of the cable there is a defect on the insulation, which is very likely, then you cannot avoid problems. They will affect both RCDs and difavtomats, and if not immediately, but rather soon.
