Good afternoon, my reader. Timely preventive and curative measures, involving spraying tomatoes with special nutritious and protective solutions, help to strengthen the stems, increase the resistance of the culture to invasions of pests and lesions infections. The best time for foliar dressing and disease prevention spraying is considered to be the period from early June to the last decade of July.

What to use for spraying

Protective measures for tomatoes are required both in the beds and when cultivated in greenhouses. Spraying the aboveground part is one of the most effective ways to prevent or organize the fight against diseases or pests.

Late blight is especially dangerous for tomatoes. This common disease can completely destroy plantings.

To avoid an outbreak of infection, preventive measures must be taken in mid-June. Irrigation of tomato ridges is carried out with the well-known antibacterial drug "Furacilin", which has an antimicrobial effect. You will need 10 standard tablets in a 10 liter bucket of standing water. They also use insecticides and fungicides. A good effect is shown by the biological product "Fitosporin".

To enhance the resistance of plants, strengthen the roots in the second decade of June, foliar feeding with urea (50 g / 10 l of water) is practiced. This volume is calculated for irrigation of one hundred square meters of tomato plantings.

A good plant strengthening effect is manifested when using the anti-stress phytohormone "Epina" (6 drops / 1 l). Irrigation is timed to the beginning of active flowering.

Scares off thrips, aphids, prevents the development of powdery mildew, strengthens plants with an ash solution (100 g / 10 l). After daily infusion, the nutrient liquid is filtered before spraying flowering tomato plantings.

In order to increase yields in conditions of high humidity observed in the greenhouse, boric acid is used at the end of June (1 g / 1 l of water).

Prevents the development of not only late blight, but also brown spotting, spraying tomato bushes in early July with Bordeaux one percent liquid. This procedure should be carried out no later than 14-15 days before the intended collection of fruits.

Throughout the entire July period, fruits are already being tied on many varieties of tomatoes, so it is not recommended to use chemical agents for processing. For the purpose of prevention, they resort to safer folk recipes.

For example, use milk serum, diluted immediately before the irrigation procedure with settled water (1:10). The safe composition of the nutrient solution allows you to repeat the spraying three more times with an interval of 10 days. When the first signs of phytophthora are detected, pharmaceutical iodine (20 drops / 10 l) is added to the working solution with serum.

For foliar feeding at the stage of active development of fruits, a solution of potassium monophosphate (2 g / 1 l) is prepared. This fertilizer, easily digestible by plants, not only saturates the soil with phosphorus and potassium, improving the quality and taste characteristics of tomatoes, but also prevents the risk of developing fungal infections.

Spraying rules for tomatoes

This procedure is especially effective if tomatoes are grown in areas with heavy soil, which slows down the supply of nutrients to the roots.

When performing activities, it is advisable to follow some rules:

  • They regularly inspect the plantings in order to timely detect signs of disease or colonization of harmful insects on the bushes.
  • Leaves affected by late blight, stems are cut and burned.
  • Spraying is carried out on all sides of the leaf plates, but without excess. The working solution should be distributed evenly, but not drip to the ground.
  • For the preparation of funds, use settled warm water. Observe the dosage indicated on the drug label.
  • Irrigation of tomato plantings is carried out in calm cloudy weather or in the evening.
  • For tomatoes grown in garden beds, it is recommended to spray after rain whenever possible.
Carrying out a variety of foliar dressings in the June and July period and prevent outbreaks of dangerous spraying infections can increase the immunity of tomatoes, activate the development of ovaries, increase yield.
