Greetings to all metal lovers. This is a channel for self-taught beginners in welding and locksmiths. I've been cooking and cutting metal for 15 years. I want to give the most important advice to everyone who is thinking of buying a grinder.
It doesn't matter what model and size of grinder you decide to buy, the most important thing is what kind of disc rotation you put on the new tool. Roughly speaking, the disc can be set in 2 different positions - rotation when cutting with sparks towards yourself, or sparks from yourself.
From the very first days of my work with this necessary, but unsafe tool, I cut metal only with sparks on myself. So I was taught by my older and more experienced colleagues, locksmiths and welders.
Using simple examples, without being driven into the complex details of the metal cutting process with an abrasive disc, I will show why you need to do this.
Above there are 2 photos from my work. Here is the process of cutting with large grinders on a 230 disc. Ignore the different brands of the instrument, just a few years between these pictures. During my work, I have changed many brands of the instrument. But he always sawed just like that, sparks at himself.
The most unpleasant and sometimes even terrible thing that can happen when working with a grinder is when he seriously bites a disc. At this point, the disk may partially or completely collapse, but this is not bad.
At such a moment, the grinder itself can suddenly fly out of the hands in the forward or backward direction. I will give you a simple life example, after which you will understand everything.
The car slips and you are standing behind and pushing it, even if you pretend to push, but you are behind the car, in our case the grinders! The wheels spin and throw dirt (sparks) towards you.
And let's imagine a fabulous plot. The dirt dries up in an instant and you get an excellent grip of the wheel and the ground - it is like a bite of the disc on the grinder, the complete adhesion of the abrasive and metal.
Understood the thought. The car (Bulgarian) jumps sharply forward from you. But if you were standing behind and an inexperienced driver turned on the reverse speed and the wheels would throw mud in the direction from you. At the moment the surface dries (the disc is bitten), how will the car jump?
Friends who have no experience with this tool yet. If you are advised to cut metal with sparks from yourself, just remember this fantastic analogy with a skidding car. I have everything, it's up to you to decide.
