Recurring motifs in the interior are elements that echo in one or more characteristics: color, shape, texture, pattern, style, and so on. They will diversify the interior, make it more interesting, thoughtful and deep.
The designer told about what tasks this technique can solve and how to apply it correctly. Marina Svetlova.
7. Combine the interior
Repetitive motives are able to bring the interior together, becoming a kind of connecting elements. Thus, the interior is assembled into a single whole, permeated with a common leitmotif.
This technique works even when the repetitions are not entirely obvious - for example, it can be just display glass on the sideboard, echoing the curtains on the windows.
6. Focus attention
Repetitions will help focus on the point in space that you want to highlight. So, several vases with an identical pattern, placed on the shelves, will draw attention to the rack.
A similar effect can be achieved with color combinations. For example, choosing matching curtains for chairs.
5. Place dotted accents
Repeating elements are often used as some kind of "anchors" of space. The eye involuntarily snatches them out of the overall picture. An accent wall will certainly require support in the form of textiles or accessories.
In recent years, repeating metal decorative elements - brass or copper - have become a favorite technique of designers. With the help of such details, you can interestingly revive a calm monochrome interior.
4. Add contrast
Also, using repetitions, you can add brightness to the interior. For example, to diversify the neutral basis of the space with bright lamps or geometric patterns in interior details.
This solution is suitable for those who are still afraid of experimenting with color in decoration.
3. Set the tone
If the task is to bring notes of a certain stylization to the interior, then you cannot do without repeating motives.
So, wallpaper with tropical patterns can be combined with the corresponding ethnic decor elements, and retro furniture can be easily combined with atmospheric posters that refer to the styles of the 20th century.
2. Add depth
Reception of repetitive elements will make the space more voluminous, expressive and deep. This is especially true for the use of unusual, eye-catching patterns and patterns.
1. Distract from room imperfections
By focusing attention on itself, repetitions are able to neutralize the shortcomings of the initial parameters of the object. After analyzing the parameters of the room, you can evaluate its advantages and disadvantages and, with the help of decoration, bring the interior to a comfortable shape for the eye.
This is especially true for rooms with irregular geometry or narrow, elongated spaces. For example, symmetrically located accent pots will allow you to shorten the length of the wall.
