Despite all the advantages of such water preparation for irrigation, there is one significant "but". Water tends to turn green, and a characteristic green bloom forms on the container, on its walls.
You can get rid of this phenomenon. A similar picture can be observed in the pool, so some owners suggest using copper sulfate. Indeed, it provides excellent results. But in the case of a barrel, this option is undesirable, since the copper compounds have too long a decay time. They accumulate well in the soil and in the plants themselves, the fruits of which will then be eaten. The prospect is not bright.
Three Ways to Prevent Blooming Water Prepared for Irrigation
When water is exposed to direct sunlight for two to three weeks, it begins to change color, which is associated with the appearance of green algae in it. As a result, the water must be drained, and the barrel must be washed from the inside and refilled.
