Private traders are on strike against smart meters. Will their opinion be taken into account, or will it be as always ???

Another innovation has recently affected our village. Electricity workers began to hang meters on poles. Naturally, we wondered why they were doing this.

According to employees, this makes their work easier. Supposedly now they can easily get to the meter, see what state it is in, take readings, etc.

Modern meters are strikingly different from those that were before. Their main advantage is that they transmit readings remotely, simplifying the life of power grid workers several times.

However, both I and my neighbors hardly believed in the sincerity and honesty of the words of the controllers. They probably just want to minimize the risk of electricity theft in this way.

"Our" people go to all sorts of tricks to save on electricity. Of course, power grid workers are well aware of this, but they cannot eradicate theft. So they decided to put the counters on the poles. It turns out that the residents themselves no longer have access to the devices, but the controllers do!

Do modern meters work correctly, do they have some kind of error? Some of the neighbors objected that the power grids have no right to carry devices on poles, since this contradicts the rules for their installation.

If you turn to the official documents, you can see that, according to the norms, metering devices should be installed in rooms with low humidity, the temperature in which ranges from 0 to +40 degrees. The outdoor conditions for the meter cannot be called suitable, because it will regularly be exposed to precipitation, frost, direct sunlight, etc.

Let's say that workers hide the meter in a flap, but this does not guarantee 100% protection. Condensation will still get on the device, and temperature changes can damage the meter.

In winter, when subzero temperatures are observed outside, the error of the device will increase. And users will have to suffer from this. The norms state that the meter can be taken out into the street only if a heated cabinet is provided for it.

You don't need to be a visionary here to understand that no one will install such cabinets in the village.

When the residents protested, the workers simply did not pay attention to them, but continued to carry the counters onto the poles.

Some of my neighbors turned out to be the most militant and even wrote several complaints. But all their efforts so far have not yielded any result. Neighbors complain that the devices are showing incorrect values, so they have to pay much more for electricity. Unfortunately, few people care about the problems of ordinary people.

In an amicable way, each tenant should have a special remote control that allows you to control the work of the meter. In our village, no one has such a remote control.

It would seem that the tenants are right in this case, but the fight is unequal, and the victory is still in the hands of the monopolists. And no matter how many complaints we write, we are unlikely to be able to win this war.
