The situation when the seeds of tomatoes, and other vegetable crops, do not germinate well, is familiar to every gardener who grows seedlings on their own. But it is enough to know a simple secret, and you can forget about the problem once and for all.

1. Pre-sowing treatment

This preparatory stage is necessary when the seeds are not initially processed by the agricultural firm. Processed seed does not need it, but the cost of such seeds is slightly higher.

The whole point of pre-sowing treatment is to destroy the substances on the shell that slow down the germination process. To test germination, you can take a couple of seeds in advance and germinate them. With a positive outcome of the event, the seeds (now all the rest) are recommended to be soaked for twenty to thirty minutes in a solution of potassium permanganate, which should have a pink color. This processing method has been tested by more than one generation.

But in this case, before treating the seeds with this solution, ideally soak them for fifteen minutes to soften in melt water. The procedure is optional, but it has a beneficial effect on the seeds. The fact is that the water formed as a result of the melting of snow becomes "alive" for the seeds.

2. "Babushkin" variant of processing with the use of aloe

This method is old and has never let anyone down. If the seeds are expired, they must be treated with aloe juice, always undiluted, since there are a lot of active elements in aloe that bring the seeds back to life.

To do this, you need to take a leaf of the plant and cut it lengthwise into two parts. Put seeds on one of them, and cover the other.
Once they are swollen, you can sow into a container filled with soil. You do not need to rinse them first. By the way, this method is also ideal for fresh seeds.

As for fresh seed, it can be soaked in a solution of aloe juice and water in a 1: 1 ratio for twelve to eighteen hours. For better activation of the active elements in the leaf of the plant, after cutting it, it is best to place it for seven days in the refrigerator (in the door).
