It is for this reason that they tried to feed the Russian (and in fact, not only) soldiers with herring whenever possible. Fortunately, it was not too expensive and readily available. Not only the soldiers of the Russian Empire ate herring. Fish was the most important part of the diet of the military personnel of the Soviet Union. The fighters are intensively fed with fish to this day. In addition, the purposeful eating of herring is widely practiced by soldiers of the special forces, since, in fact, herring is an excellent "natural" stimulant.
