How to get Kombucha
There are many methods of obtaining culture. Among them, the usual can be distinguished in particular using products such as apple cider vinegar, tea and sugar.
First, brew the tea. To do this, you will need 0.5 liters of liquid and 1 tbsp. l. any tea leaves, let it brew for a while. After that, pour about 100 g of sugar into the liquid and add apple cider vinegar (1 tsp. l.), and then pour into a large bowl, for example, a three-liter jar. Cover the neck of the container with gauze or other thin material. Place the solution in a room with a temperature of +23 to +25 ° C. The culture does not tolerate the direct rays of the sun at all, so it is better to remove it in partial shade.
And most importantly, remember, you cannot touch the container, much less move it. After about a week, after three weeks, a film will be visible on top of the surface of the solution. The first sign that a crop is ripe is a strong vinegar smell. As soon as the film is at least 1-2 mm thick, the liquid composition can be replaced with sweet tea. Kombucha will be hardened only after 40-60 days.
Some lovers of this drink use rose hips when growing. The berry contains many useful substances.
To grow kombucha with the addition of rose hips, you should take a pre-prepared solution of berries with the following proportion: 0.5 l of liquid / 4 tbsp. l. rose hips. The drink should be infused in a thermos for 5-6 days. Then it must be poured into a three-liter container, add strongly brewed black tea (0.4 liters of water for 2 tbsp. l. tea leaf), you need to add granulated sugar to the drink (5 tbsp. l.). The maturation period for kombucha is exactly the same as when made from apple cider vinegar tea.
Correct care
In the process of making kombucha, proper care is needed. If left unattended, this drink quickly turns into vinegar, and the culture dies.
If the mushroom is on the surface of the liquid, then everything is in order and it is healthy. As soon as the culture sinks to the bottom of the container and cannot rise even after the infusion has been added, consider that you made some mistakes during the leaving process.
The container must have a constant volume of water of at least 3 liters. The can with the drink should be exposed to light for at least eight hours. If the drink is constantly consumed, you can add sleeping brewed tea to the jar. First, pour it with hot liquid, then cool, add a small amount of sugar and pour everything into a container. Make sure that the sugar grains never get onto the crop itself, so let them dissolve completely. Strain the brew before use so that it does not interfere with the drink.
Kombucha must be washed at least 1-2 times during the month. To do this, take it out of the container, put it on any flat surface. Strain the drink through a piece of gauze and then pour into a clean bowl. The culture is washed with warm liquid. Then keep it in the air for 2-3 minutes and put it in water again.
If only the mushroom changed its color and became brown, and even began to exfoliate, it means that it was struck by a disease. It is better to start a new culture, since such a drink cannot be consumed, it is dangerous to your health.
