There are over 1.5 million oil-heated homes in the UK, accounting for about 5% of the total number of residential buildings. As of 18 July 2021, 19 homes across the country have successfully switched to hydrotreated vegetable oil (HRM). which is produced from certified, environmentally friendly, non-fossil waste obtained with harm to the environment Wednesday.
Jody Allan, former President of the UK and Ireland Fuel Distributors Association (UKIFDA), translated her home in Dryman, Scotland, at the State Russian Museum in March and told Scottish Housing News that everything went smoothly. Of the 129,000 oil-fired homes in Scotland, Allen is the first to switch to timing. She said:
Costs range from £ 500 ($ 690) to £ 1,000 ($ 1,381), depending on the specific conversion system. The timing is stored in our existing 1,200 liter tank and it is estimated that during the colder months we will use 20 liters per day.
However, the current cost of renewable liquid fuels is about three times the cost of traditional heating oil. Costs are expected to decline as supply and demand increase.
Ken Cronin, CEO of UKIFDA, said:
The results of the first tests show that the timing belt can offer an important choice that our customers have been lacking when it comes to low carbon heating solutions.
We are confident that oil-heated households will willingly make a timing decision as it overcomes major hurdles, associated with the costs of change and disruption that exist for many people living in old, difficult to handle houses.
