Friends, you are on the channel for metal lovers. And even more precisely, for all self-taught beginners in welding and locksmiths!

There are moments in our welding practice when it is very inconvenient to crawl up to the place of welding with the electrode. Sometimes you need to weld a part, and the weld itself will go in an almost inaccessible place. Let's look at such a moment and find a solution to this problem.

Not so long ago I had a welding job - I welded pieces of corners into the end of a round pipe. There was one difficulty here. The end of the pipe came out of the ground by 70-100 mm, no more.

This corner had to be welded to the pipe in 2 places. Getting to these places was rather inconvenient. Alternatively, it was possible to dig in a post so that the release from the ground was more authentic and then welded. But we applied the old trick of the welders!

The MMA electrode just needs to be bent into an arc!

This is not a joke, but quite a working way of experienced welders. But not all electrodes can be bent like this, further in the text I will show you which brands do not bend like that. In the meantime, here's how I did it.

Clamp the electrode at 90 degrees and gently bend the electrode into an arc. We do not drive abruptly, but gradually. The coating will then not sprinkle. The electrode can also be clamped in the holder and at 45 degrees, you need to look at the situation, how it will be more convenient to crawl to the place of welding.

And so, with a curved electrode, I quickly and without inconvenience welded all the corners to the ends of the pipes. I saw such a method - welding with a bent curved electrode many years ago, as an experienced welder did, welded a truck. At first I did not attach this importance, and then I myself began to try welding in inconvenient places just like that.

And which electrodes can be easily bent into an arc? See, remember.

These are rutile coated electrodes. They bend easily without sprinkling the coating. These are brand electrodes.

These electrodes can be bent safely. But such electrodes cannot be bent.

These are basic coated electrodes. As you can see, if you try to bend them, then the whole coating will simply sprinkle. Cooking with such an electrode will not work. These are stamps
