Super self-hardening mass recipe with only 3 ingredients

I want to share with you an interesting and simple recipe for a self-hardening mass of 3 ingredients, which itself dries in air, does not crack at all and does not shrink at all.

This mass is an excellent replacement for expensive polymer clay. You can sculpt from it, you can mold into molds and make various decorative elements for your crafts.

Here are the ingredients you need:

1. Corn or potato starch

2. Any polymer glue;

3. Any vegetable oil.

Corn starch is better suited, it is snow-white, but potato starch also showed itself perfectly.

Polymer glue I use "Titanium" or "Master". The company and the name do not matter. With this glue, earlier, maybe now, they glued foam tiles to the ceiling.

Any oil will do, even expired and rancid.

So, in Bishkek, the cheapest polymer clay costs about 650 rubles for 250 gr. And now I will calculate the cost of the homemade mass.

1 kg of starch: 70-100 rubles. 1 liter of glue: 200-240 rubles. Oil for 1 kg is enough for a gram of 100 - this is 15 rubles.

Total: about 350 rubles per 1 kg of mass

This mass turns out to be soft, plastic, pleasant to the touch. It is easy and pleasant to work with it if everything is cooked correctly. That I will tell you now.

Step 1.

It is convenient for me to knead the mass on a newspaper. I pour in a bunch of starch and pour in the glue. All by eye, no proportions.

And there are no proportions, because the glue from different manufacturers of different thicknesses and always requires a different amount of starch to obtain the desired consistency.

Step 2.

I start to knead. Hands are always in starch, so the glue does not touch the skin. I add starch to the glue in small portions, otherwise the mix will be too steep and will crumble.

When the mass is ready, I add a little vegetable oil to it, wrap it in a bag and put it on 7-10 minutes, so that the starch dissolves into the glue.

Step 3.

Across 10 minutes I tear off a small piece from the whole mass, wrap the rest back, because the mass quickly winds up.

I add some oil and start molding into molds.

The mass perfectly takes any shape and holds it. You can stick it straight wet on PVA glue or on the same polymer glue.

Any color for dyeing can be added to the wet mass.

After an hour, the mass is already covered with a crust and can be safely taken in hand. It dries completely in 1-3 days and more, depending on the thickness of the layer of the product.

The mass can be stored in a tightly closed bag without oxygen access for about 3 days, adding more oil to it.

The dried product can be sanded, drilled, sawed.

Can be painted ANY COLOR and COVER WITH VARNISHES.

The dried product is afraid of moisture and water, it must be painted and / or varnished.
