In the First World War, Russia was very badly burned on the fact that it could not fully satisfy its own army with domestic weapons production. Including the production of hand-held small arms. Similar moments can be traced today. For example, the Russian special forces actively use the foreign Glock pistol. Hence the question: is there really no one of our own, or is it not all that simple?

In fact, it was always not very good with pistols in Russia, both in the Tsarist and in the Soviet. The TT pistol was developed and put into service almost urgently, as a more or less tolerable alternative to the obsolete and moral outdated revolver weapon system. The Makarov pistol, in turn, was developed as a replacement for TT. It turned out to be quite good, but still not a masterpiece. As a result, they could not replace it with anything.

In general, domestic engineers cannot make an excellent pistol in all respects. A machine gun, a machine gun, a sniper rifle, please. But with short-barreled weapons, everything is not very good, although interesting pre-production samples are available. Actually, the lack of a sufficiently reliable, simple and accurate pistol by the standards of special forces has become the reason that the Russian law enforcement agencies are buying Austrian Glock pistols for themselves.

Developed in the 1980s, Glock literally blew up the short-barreled rifle market, becoming one of the most popular pistols in the world. It is purchased not only by Russia, but also by France, Germany, USA, China, Great Britain and many other countries. So, the native Fatherland in the "club" is far from the only member. However, this is changing too. Gradually, the Austrian pistol is being replaced by the domestic Yarygin pistol, which in recent years has been significantly improved and brought to mind.
