Most gardeners build greenhouses on their plots and grow vegetables and fruits in them throughout the summer season. But for a long time there has been a structure invented by a simple physics teacher, called the "solar vegetarian". The meaning of such a greenhouse is to maximize the use of solar energy all year round. The special design is not very complicated, you can create such a greenhouse on your site on your own and at no special cost.
Vegetarian design
- The rear warm wall should be oriented in such a way that the entire structure is in a southern direction at an angle of 15-35 °, on a natural or artificial slope. The wall can be a separate object, or the vegetarian is attached to a house or an insulated outbuilding.
- The ventilation system is made of PVC, metal or HDPE pipes, which are laid at a distance of half a meter from each other and are at the same time a heating system.
- The roof must be sloped to the south. For its manufacture, you can use glass or polycarbonate. Due to its transparency, a decent reception of solar energy is ensured, therefore:
- at outdoor temperatures down to -15 ° С additional heating is not needed,
- does not require frequent watering,
- due to the unusual design, there is no need for ventilation, since it occurs due to a certain air circulation.
Types of Vegetarian
There are several types of solar greenhouses. They differ from each other in:
- structures, that is, attached to an already finished building or to a specially built wall;
- material of manufacture;
- use of energy (solar, biohumus energy);
- functional purpose, whether the crop will be grown for oneself or for sale;
- designs of heat accumulators and air ducts.
Positive and negative sides
The most important advantage of a vegetarian is the maximum use of solar energy for heating and lighting the greenhouse. Compared to an ordinary greenhouse, in the warm season in a vegetarian it is four times warmer, and in the cold season eighteen times. This use of solar energy gives more advantages to this structure, since energy resources are consumed less, and the yield increases tenfold. The most important thing is that in such a greenhouse, plants practically do not get sick.
No minuses were found in this building, although there are both supporters and opponents of solar greenhouses.
