Boric acid is widely used in the garden and vegetable garden. With its help, preventive spraying of plants from insect pests and various diseases is carried out. In addition, a solution based on it is used for feeding tomatoes.
Boric acid benefits
Tomatoes respond positively to almost any timely feeding. Boric acid improves the fruiting of crops by 25%, enhances flowering, increases the number of ovaries. This is one of the most effective remedies in the fight against late blight.
The drug contains a large amount of boron - a trace element necessary for normal nutrition, development and growth of tomatoes. Thanks to it, the sugar content increases, the keeping quality of the fruit improves.
Signs of insufficient boron
A trace element is necessary for a culture for:
- Improve calcium absorption.
- Strengthening the oxygen exchange of the root system.
- Synthesis of various biologically active substances.
Boron deficiency signs:
- The top dries and fades.
- The buds are falling.
- Dry spots appear on the fruit.
- The leaves brighten, curl.
If one of these signs is found, they begin to treat the plant with a solution based on boric acid.
Preparation of working solution
There are several nutrient formulations with different ingredients. For example, based on whey.
Components will be required:
- milk whey - 0.5 stack.;
- boric acid - 0.5 tsp l .;
- iodine - 3 drops.
The powder is diluted in warm whey until completely dissolved. Iodine is added. Allow the infusion to cool, dilute with 4 liters of water. Used for both root and foliar feeding at the rate of 0.5 liters of composition per plant.
Milk whey forms a film that helps to retain nutrients, and also prevents the emergence and development of such a dangerous disease as late blight.
To achieve maximum effect, the soil is thoroughly moistened beforehand.
Top dressing based on wood ash
Another way to fertilize tomatoes.
Components:
- wood ash - 2 l;
- boric acid - 1 tsp l .;
- water - 10 l;
- iodine - 30 drops.
The liquid is brought to a boil and the ash is dissolved in it. Boric acid is then added. Allow the mixture to cool and introduce iodine.
The resulting composition is used for root top dressing at the rate of 0.5 liters per plant or for spraying with a spray bottle.
Experienced gardeners have noticed that root dressing gives the best results. So the root system quickly absorbs the necessary nutrients, spreading them through the tissues of the plant.
Solution with potassium permanganate
Such a tool has several advantages at once:
- Actively disinfects.
- Improves fruiting.
- Protects against phytophthora.
The tops after getting potassium permanganate on it is strengthened. The whole plant is disinfected.
The tool is actively used after pinching, since it helps the plant recover.
Gardeners recommend using potassium permanganate-based top dressing in 3 stages:
- Prepare a solution: 5 g of potassium permanganate is diluted in warm water. Spray green mass and soil under the plant. For 1 bush, take no more than 0.5 liters of solution.
- After 7 days, boron treatment is carried out. To do this, 0.5 g of boric acid is diluted in 10 liters of hot water. Allow to cool. With the help of a spray bottle, the bush is treated.
- A week later, iodine treatment is started. Take 10 drops and dissolve in 5 l of water. The resulting composition is used for root application.
The effect of the procedure is comparable to the use of nitrogen fertilizers such as urea or saltpeter. There is not only the introduction of the necessary nutrients, but also a high-quality disinfection of the soil.
Boron is an essential element for the normal growth and development of tomatoes. It is used to improve the quality of fruits, disinfect the soil.
