Now, I know exactly what I will paint my fence with! I saw what the metal is painted with in the workshop: it does not fade for a long time and does not peel off

We were really looking forward to the completion of construction and finally last year we celebrated a housewarming. Well, let it be that another room has not been completely renovated, well, let it be that the plinth is not fixed everywhere, but we are already living in our house ...

From the street above the front door, I made a temporary canopy from the remaining boards, which served us for almost a year and not so long ago, we ordered a normal metal canopy with forging elements and a forged handrail for climbing steps porch.

After the details of the order were discussed, the blacksmith proceeded to the implementation, and I will already install the structure myself. Two weeks later, I received a call that everything was ready. When I drove up to the shop for an order and entered the hangar, I saw a huge area where freshly painted metal elements are being dried. Nearby, a painter paints over just made forging, a welder is working a little to the left... Work is in full swing...

In another corner of the hangar, I noticed that there was a pile of iron cans of car paint ...

The workers loaded my shed into the trailer and I asked the blacksmith: "What is the guarantee for the paintwork?".

"It will definitely stand for 10 years, then you will touch up!"- answered the blacksmith.

Further dialogue:

Me: - What, do you paint forging with auto enamel?

- Well, yes, the most optimal inexpensive option, which is in no way inferior to analogues. Does not fade or peel off!

Me: - Give me some paint, I will paint the metal after installation!

After the conversation, the blacksmith brought me a jar filled with about 1/3 of paint and I left to install a canopy ...

After all the elements were installed, I began to touch up the welds and anchor bolt heads.

So, in their workshop, these masters use the usual domestic air-dried alkyd autoenamel. They also told me how to apply it ...

In order for such paints to be used on metal elements for at least 10 years, they are applied exclusively to the primed surface, then they are guaranteed not to peel off from the base.

But, it is possible to apply without a primer on a well-sanded coating, then before applying the metal area must be degreased with ordinary white spirit.

Of course, in addition to car enamel, you can use both hammer and blacksmith paints, but their high-quality options are twice as expensive. I analyzed the prices and realized that car enamels are the most inexpensive option, even if you add the cost of a primer for them. A primer (200-250 rubles / kg) and paint (500-600 rubles / kg) will cost about 800 rubles / kg.

Paint consumption per 1 square meter of metal - from 80 to 140 gr.

For car enamels and AUTO enamels that are durable, do not fade and have incredible resistance to mechanical damage.

They can be applied with a brush, roller or spray ...

I used to buy ordinary paints, but now I learned what professionals paint and I know what I will paint my metal fence with!

That's all, I hope the article was useful to you!
