How to grow a bunch of onions in your garden

Batun onion is a culture native to Asia. In Russia, it can be found in summer cottages practically throughout the country. They plant it on greenery. The vegetable uses all its resources on tubular leaves. With good care, feathers grow up to 70 centimeters and up to 25 millimeters in diameter.

Rules for growing onions

The culture is not demanding to care for, but in order for the harvest to please, you should adhere to several rules:

  • the predecessor in the garden should be legumes;
  • acidity of the earth from 6.5-7.5 units;
  • sowing no more than 2 grams of seeds per square meter;

Landing rules

In the garden, rows are made with a depth of 2 centimeters and with row spacing of 30 centimeters. Grains that have not undergone processing are sown in unmoistened soil, cultivated ones - in damp soil. The sealed beds are well spilled with water and mulched with straw.

Planting care rules

  • Watering. Depends on the frequency of precipitation. On sunny days, the plants are watered every 2 days to stimulate the active growth of greenery, the soil must be moistened daily. To improve aeration of the roots, the beds are loosened after each watering.
  • Weeding and thinning. At first, weeds are removed from the beds every day. Thinning the shoots of the onion itself should be done twice. The first - after the appearance of the first leaves, and the second - as the plants grow.
  • Top dressing. Fertilizer is applied twice per season: during planting, chicken droppings, a little later - compost and ammofosku.

In the fall, the onion can be left alone - the plant falls asleep before the onset of heat.

Diseases and pests

If agricultural technology is followed correctly, the batun grows well and rarely gets sick. With mistakes in care, the vegetable can be affected by fungi. Compositions containing copper are used for treatment.

Onions can be periodically attacked by a weevil or a fly. For pest control use "Fufanon" or folk remedies: mustard solution or infusion of potato shoots.
