Greetings, dear subscribers and guests of the channel!
Overhaul touched all the rooms of our apartment, including the bathroom. My wife and I decided that there was no place for a bulky, outdated, cast-iron bathtub in the renovated dwelling. We decided to dismantle it and replace it with a modern, stylish shower stall.
We have been using this "innovative" invention for 3 years. We regretted our decision almost every time we were going to take a shower. The shower stall turned out to have a lot of shortcomings, which I decided to tell you about today.
First of all, I want to mention the difficulties of dismantling and removing a bulky cast-iron bath from the apartment. She was practically immured to death in the wall. With its detachment, I had to tinker and even call friends for help.
Getting this cast-iron monster out of the apartment was also not easy. When we were dragging the bath up the stairs, I was almost covered with it. And a friend even tore his ligaments.
But all these are deviations from the main topic.
The installation of the shower stall was the final step in the renovation of the bathroom. In order not to call the masters, I decided to mount it with my own hands. In total, it took me 3 days to install. When the booth was already assembled and connected, we decided to test it.
Unfortunately, when the water was turned on, it began to pour not only from the mixer, but also literally from every slot. Then I realized that I had not sealed the seams. To fix this mistake, I had to spend another couple of days and also buy two tubes of sealant.
It's a shame, annoying, but not fatal. When the sealant froze, we started testing the booth again. Turning on the water, we realized that the pressure decreased several times. It turned out that there are narrow holes in the mixers. Taking a shower turned into a real challenge for us, as the temperature of the water constantly "jumped". We were unable to set any comfortable indicators.
In the process of operation, a bunch of significant shortcomings of the shower cabin were revealed.
- 1. For the wife, the dimensions of the booth were quite comfortable. As for me, a 90-kilogram man, I could hardly fit in a cramped booth.
- 2. Droplets of water, which will certainly remain on the inner walls of the booth, dry up and turn into plaque. It is difficult to wash it off, and after the next shower, it reappears.
- 3. After about six months of using the booth, the door rollers broke
- 4. Plus, the design turned out to be very unstable. I tried to level the booth, but it continued to wobble a little.
My wife and I came to the conclusion that it would be better to restore the old cast-iron bathtub and leave it. But what's done is done.
