Manure has been known in agriculture as a fertilizer for many years. It is used as a seedling feed in order to accelerate and improve plant growth rates and qualitatively affect the amount of the crop.
There are many advantages of using:
- completely natural composition;
- safe organic component;
- a large number of beneficial nutrients and minerals;
- compatibility with most garden, field and garden crops.
However, it is not always possible to use the manure itself directly. What can be used instead? Consider other options for organic fertilizers that can be successfully substituted.
Manure in granules
Granular fertilizer is a completely natural supplement. It is distinguished from natural manure only by its appearance and the absence of a strong odor.
Its composition is more than two-thirds on a mineral organic basis, with such important elements as nitrogen, zinc, potassium, calcium, phosphorus and manganese.
Feeding is made from cleaned cattle manure and dried plants. After heating the bulk, the ingredients are mixed with each other, moisture is completely removed, then pressed into granules. It should be noted a significant decrease in the mass of manure, which is a clear plus.
Bottom silt
Bottom river or lake sediments have been used as fertilizer since the times of Ancient Egypt.
The silt has a rich mineral organic component, consisting of a variety of residues of aquatic flora and fauna, well suited for plant nutrition.
It is mined with the help of equipment or hand shovels, spread in a thin layer, dried and given the required shape.
Bird droppings
Poultry manure is the most popular fertilizer used. Many gardeners consider it to be the best soil supplement.
Perfect for autumn feeding, so that nitrogen nitrates accumulate in the ground by the next planting year.
When processing plants and soil, an aqueous solution is prepared from the droppings (1:10), which must be kept in a dark, cool place under a lid for a week. Fertilizer cannot be used in its pure form; it can damage plants.
Peat
Unlike other organic additives, peat is so rich in diverse mineral composition. However, it has the most beneficial effect on the soil due to the large amount of humus. Another advantage is that the ground warms up quickly.
The acidity of peat is reduced by adding lime.
Good for composting.
Collected from wetlands, dried and packaged.
Excrement
Fecal waste from cesspools can also be a good option. To use them, a 30-centimeter peat layer is laid on the bottom of the pit, and crushed peat is periodically poured into the mixture itself.
To get rid of parasites and strong odors, the mixture is placed in compost for a long time.
The resulting fertilizer has a soft texture and is rich in nitrogen.
Bark or birch bark
Shredded tree bark significantly enriches the soil with oxygen, helps to better conduct moisture, and generally improves fertility.
Usually, wood is not applied in pure form, but together with other fertilizers.
It is also worth paying attention to organic waste from various enterprises, compost and green manure additives, complex fertilizing.
