Raspberry is an unpretentious fruit bush. Subject to all the rules for care, it gives a bountiful harvest with high taste. After complete harvesting and pruning, I make sure to feed the bushes.

Preparatory activities

Before starting feeding, I recommend preparing the planting:

  1. Thoroughly weed out all weeds.
  2. Dig up the soil between the rows to a depth of 15 cm.
  3. In the rows - by 7.5 cm.
  4. Prune off all old, dry, broken, mature branches.

Only at the end of all the procedures do I start fertilizing.

I fertilize common varieties in the second half of September - early October.

Repaired raspberries usually bear fruit at this time. For her I apply fertilizers in late October - early November.

Compositions required for raspberries

I prefer organic and natural fertilizers.

For autumn application I use:

  • manure;
  • humus:
  • mature compost;
  • peat;
  • ash;
  • chicken droppings;
  • siderates.

I bring compost or rotted manure under digging 1 time in 4 years. I use no more than 4 kg per 1 m2.

Every year I mulch the soil under the bushes with peat. I make a layer of 15 cm. Gradually rotting, the fertilizer warms the root system in the cold season, enriches the soil with nutrients, and leaves it moist for a long time.

Feeding with chicken manure, I advise you to use with extreme caution, since the fertilizer is highly concentrated. In order not to harm the bushes, I dilute it with water in a ratio of 1:20. Then I carefully and evenly spill the soil between the rows.

Wood ash helps to reduce the acidity of the soil and restore the supply of potassium, an element that increases plant immunity. I sprinkle 100 g of sifted ash into the trunk circle of each bush.

Often I plant siderates between raspberry bushes. In the fall, after harvesting, I mow the grass and close it up for digging. Siderata rot by the new season and significantly increase soil fertility.

Most often I plant:

  • mustard;
  • vetch;
  • Clover.

Every season I try to alternate organic and mineral fertilizers, maintaining the necessary balance of nutrients.

Mineral compositions

When applying fertilizers in the fall, I take into account that during this period the nitrogen content should be minimal, since the element activates the process of plant growth.

In September-October, I use formulations with a high content of potassium and phosphorus, which will increase the plant's resistance to weather extremes.

Of the mineral dressings, I recommend giving preference to the following:

  • superphosphate;
  • potassium sulfate.

For each raspberry bush, I add no more than 55 g of superphosphate granules. I preliminarily loosen the soil in the trunk circle. After feeding, I carefully spill it with soft, well-settled water. So the fertilizer is absorbed faster by the root system.

Potassium sulfate increases the frost resistance of raspberries. I take 35 g per bush and embed it in the ground along with superphosphate.

I feed young bushes with 15 g of potassium magnesium.

Some gardeners advise to dig small grooves 15 cm deep, retreating from the bush 20 cm, and apply fertilizer to them.

Fertilization during transplanting

I transplant raspberries in the fall, after the pruning procedure. In the process of transplanting, I immediately bring in both organic and mineral compounds.

For 1 m2 I use:

  • rotted manure or mature compost - 10 kg;
  • calcium - 20 g;
  • phosphorus - 20 g.

I mix the organic matter with the soil and fall asleep in the planting hole. Then I place the seedling, sprinkle it with earth. I evenly distribute mineral fertilizers over the surface.

Correctly feeding raspberries in the fall, in the spring I get strong, healthy plants and a bountiful harvest with high palatability.
