The day before yesterday I had a bad day. The morning began with the burning of the laptop and almost everything connected to the USB ports.
Apparently, during the preparation for testing 12-volt lead-acid batteries for the UPS, somehow 12 volts from the battery went to the USB power. Either I somehow touched something (but I didn't understand how and what) or the EBD-USB + USB tester broke through and the input somehow connected to the power supply of the control interface. I just heard a quiet click and the laptop screen went blank.
Laptop KREZ N1403S (https://ammo1.livejournal.com/989377.html) served me for three years. I do not know if there is any chance of restoring it if 12 volts hit the five-volt USB power supply with almost unlimited current (the limitation is only the wires and paths of the board, and the battery can not even give out 200 amperes straining). I don’t know how the power circuit was made for this laptop, but the processor may have burned out. Now, when you press the power button for half a second, the power indicator flashes and that's it.
Orico USB 3.0 hub burned out. The computer sees it, but the devices included in its connectors do not.
Burned out receiver from HP mouse. The mouse itself is alive, but, alas, it will not work to use it.
The EBD-USB + device burned out. In total, three such devices were connected to the hub, but only one burned out.
The most surprising thing is that two USB-MicroUSB wires burned out (both of them have a broken power minus wire).
Unfortunately, I never thought about such a danger, although it is quite logical that if something goes wrong on the contacts of the USB connector, the computer and everything that is included in other USB connectors may burn out.
It's a shame.
