How to decorate an interior that will not become obsolete over the years: designer Ksenia Kharkova tells

The transformer interior does not at all imply the obligatory presence of a folding bed or coffee tables that turn into dining tables. It means a basic space that is easy to change and add details. This is a great way out for those who want to create a flexible interior that can be easily transformed in accordance with new trends and their own ideas and aesthetic preferences.

How to create such a living space, the designer said Ksenia Kharkova.

6. Base background

To easily transform the interior, it needs a versatile backdrop. The best choice is neutral light tones. You can use shades close to natural - sandy, pale blue, earthy. They will not bind the interior as much as a bright accent wall or dark colors.

It is better to use paint for decoration - repainting the walls is easier than changing the wallpaper. In addition, the painted surface is easier to restore in case of mechanical damage or contamination.

5. Simple geometry

Architectural refinements such as intricate arched openings, multi-level ceilings and unnecessary stucco work should be avoided. In addition, you need to be careful with finishing materials that have volume, for example, with 3D panels and decorative bricks.

This is especially true for a small space - such details can look superfluous and quickly get bored. The credo of a universal interior is that the simpler the better.

4. Furniture of clear forms

Furniture is also better to choose no frills. First of all, this applies to oversized items (wardrobes, sofas, beds), the replacement of which will be costly. For the interior to be easily transformed, the furniture should be laconic: without pretentious armrests, carved doors or a headboard.

This does not mean that it will be faceless: such objects are easy to individualize. The sofa can be supplemented with bright decorative pillows, the bed - with bed linen and a patterned bedspread, and the wardrobe - with unusual fittings. The trick is that by replacing these details, you can completely transform the interior.

3. More sockets

The transformable interior allows for rearrangement. But by moving the furniture, you can also lose the sockets next to it. Therefore, even at the project stage, it is better to lay as many connectors as possible so that such problems do not arise later.

You can place them on the lowest level on all walls. Another option is to foresee all possible rearrangements in advance and plan the wiring with this in mind.

2. Track lighting system

Another issue with permutations is lighting. So that you don't have to gouge the walls and ceiling every time you want to move the dining table or sofa, it is better to use a track system.

The luminaires can be moved around on the bus and direct the light wherever needed.

1. Bathroom tiles only in "wet" areas

To make it easy to update the bathroom, do not use tiles on the entire wall area. By combining neutral design ceramics with paint, the interior will be easier to modify over time.

In addition, repairs will be cheaper this way. As for the tiles, you can give them a new sound by changing the color of the grout.
