Living in your own home outside the city attracts more and more citizens of our country. A serious impetus to leaving for permanent residence in nature was the pandemic - people prefer to fence themselves off from the broad masses of the urban population with their viruses behind the fence on their own plot.

After how many meters, the well will be considered artesian and must be registered

Life outside the city in your home is certainly wonderful. However, in this case, all the joys of communal achievements remain in the city, and those living in rural conditions have to deal with water, gas and sewage on their own.

You cannot live without water. Artesian wells are often used for its extraction. Many people ask me which well is considered artesian, what depth should it have for this, and should it be registered?

I will try to share my own knowledge in this area.

A source of water that is extracted by drilling the earth's surface is called an artesian well. Its depth should be such that it reaches water layers located at a considerable depth in the earth. It is possible to classify such a source as artesian by the presence of water pressure, which sometimes even begins to gush after drilling.

Artesian water occurs at different, but always great depths. There is no specific level of occurrence. The upper layers of the earth are fenced off from water layers by two sandy water-resistant horizons that work as filters and, passing through themselves rainfall, make the water crystal clear and useful for health.

You can get to artesian water only by breaking through both of these horizons. And this is a very significant distance, since their total thickness can reach more than 300 meters. The convenience of such a well also lies in the fact that it is practically eternal.

In order to be sure that the drillers reached the required depth and from there the artesian water, it is necessary to carry out studies of the passable layers of the earth, determining their structure, and measure pressure. There is also some research that professionals are aware of.

Practice shows that the depth of an artesian well can vary greatly. On average, in fact, its depth can be equal to, from 80 meters, and up to 1000 meters. Drilling an artesian well is an expensive and very labor-intensive business. In addition to technical difficulties, there are also administrative ones.

Artesian water may only be mined with a permit.

Having acquired a land plot for a house and wanting to have an artesian source, you must first do the following things in order to determine the depth of the water:

  • ask neighbors who have similar sources;
  • contact geological prospecting specialists, find out from them the situation of the area and purchase a map;
  • carefully study the map and, on the basis of the data obtained, conclude a drilling contract.

The main thing is that all work on the construction of an artesian well is absolutely legal. Self-drilling bypassing the existing rules is punishable by law, since water is equated with minerals.
