A couple of years ago I wondered why people quarrel with their neighbors in the country. After all, you can live peacefully. But my opinion changed dramatically when I myself became the owner of a summer cottage.
Many people did not know that on your own site you cannot install a completely blank fence if the neighbors are against it. There are standards according to which the fence must pass air and light.
I agree that such standards sound extremely absurd, but they really exist. That is why it is better to find out about them in advance than to pay fines later and get rid of the “unwanted” fence.
Immediately after my arrival, I fenced off my site with a chain-link. It was temporary, because soon I wanted to install a normal solid fence. Naturally, the neighbors did not like this prospect, and they began to openly express their dissatisfaction. The argument was that there would be too little light for their tomatoes.
I didn't like this alignment, so I began to study the charter of the partnership. Indeed, there is a clause prohibiting the installation of a blank fence there. If you put it, then I could face a large fine and complete demolition.
I decided not to argue with the neighbors further and began to look for another way out of the situation. The most sensible solution was to darken the chain-link mesh. This will help me hide from their prying eyes. The following options seemed to me the simplest and most effective.
1. Special shading mesh
Most often it is used for awnings, for example, over playgrounds. With the help of it, children play outside, but not in the scorching sun. The mesh has good durability, but I'm not sure how long it will last on a fence. In any case, it is not expensive, so it will not be too bad.
You can also use front or mosquito nets. Naturally, one layer will not be enough, so wind in two. A roll of about 50 meters will cost about 6 thousand. Facade shading mesh will be cheaper.
2. Opaque polypropylene film
Can't imagine such material? Think of the sugar bags. They are made of just such a film. Most often it has a white tint, but other colors can be found on the market. The material reacts well to high humidity, does not fade in the sun and allows light to pass through. But the air practically does not pass. To prevent the neighbors from starting to resent, you can leave a small gap at the bottom. It is through it that the air will circulate successfully.
3. Scrim
These meshes contain strong polymeric materials. I went through many options, but decided to focus on the camouflage one. It does not allow moisture to pass through, has strong qualities and does not fade in direct sunlight. This is not the most complete list of positive qualities.
There is a wide variety of weaves and colors on sale. From a distance, the camouflage net resembles a hedge, so the appearance will not be spoiled. There were also some drawbacks. A camouflage net costs a lot and not everyone can afford it.
Now I have opted for this particular option, although I plan to make a good fence in the near future.
I hope you find some of these ideas useful too!
