Staying in the winter, at minus 30 ℃ without heating due to a boiler breakdown, is a nightmare for many homeowners. To prevent this from happening, it is necessary to prepare the system for winter, to carry out maintenance in advance.
This is what we are going to do now with the specialists of the "Heating Center". Those who kindly agreed to advise, show me and my readers what a literate tech. service. The story will be in chronological order, I'm sure the information will be useful to everyone.
First of all, the "boiler room doctors" receive an order:
The task is received, it is required to service two gas boilers operating in a cascade. The location of the facility is 50 km from the location of the specialists.
Upon arrival at the place, it turned out that the patient was:
Externally, the boilers look decent, but what's inside, now we will make out:
The trouble is, it is immediately clear that the problem of the boiler is increased corrosion. This is evidenced by rust on the burner.
Let's disassemble further, scroll through the gallery:
Problems identified in the boiler
The burner was under constant moisture, because of this, it was covered with a layer of rust, this part needs to be replaced.
The insulation of the combustion chamber is cracked; there are "shells" on it. This indicates that the heat insulator has become soaked.
The heat exchanger has also been exposed to moisture, as evidenced by greenish corrosion on the copper fins (plates). It is suspected that the tubes in the heat exchanger are "clogged" with deposits.
The air vent located behind the pump does not perform its functions; when the cap is unscrewed, water flows instead of air.
Even with this condition of the boiler, the work was completely carried out in accordance with the regulations. Mechanical cleaning of the heat exchanger and burner with dust removal, cleaning the fan (smoke exhauster) from dense dust deposits.
Checking the electrical circuit of the equipment, namely the grounding and the work of the controllers. In addition, the gas valve was adjusted according to the factory parameters:
I was asked not to tell the readers how this is done. because the work is responsible and requires certain knowledge. You just need to know that such work is mandatory, they affect safety and gas consumption. In addition, other works were carried out.
Causes of boiler corrosion
At the end of the routine maintenance, the results were summed up: The boiler on the left is in normal condition, but it also has problems with heat exchanger corrosion due to high humidity. The boiler on the right requires replacement of the heat exchanger, burner and air vent.
Possible reasons for increased humidity in the working chamber, which led to damage to the equipment:
1) Gaps in sealing joints
2) A "green" copper heat exchanger may indicate a high thermal load (temperature drops). There is a possibility that too cold, cooled coolant from the return line may enter the pipes. Due to a design error in the hydraulic system.
3) This boiler equipment is located outdoors in a box and due to temperature changes in severe frosts, moisture condensation inside the body is possible. This process is aggravated by the absence of an insulated chimney. A correct pipe slope and a coaxial chimney can solve this problem.
All actions with heating equipment took four hours, all problems with boilers were reported to the owner of the facility.
