The timing and features of planting seedlings

The ideal planting time is autumn. If the plant is planted in spring, it is best to do this before the buds bloom. Loose, slightly acidic fertile soils with good drainage are suitable for black currants. If the ground is too heavy, then when planting, you need to add a bucket of sand or limestone to the hole.

For planting, you need a flat area without hills and lowlands. The area should be lit by the sun.

Seedlings must be purchased from a specialty store or from a garden nursery. For planting in an open area, a two-year or one-year planting material with a closed or open root system is suitable. The branches should be firm and the roots well developed.

Titania needs nutritious soil. First, you need to evenly scatter on the site:

  • wood ash 1 cup;
  • nitroammofoski 150 g;
  • humus or rotted compost 2 buckets.

The above is poured into one square meter of soil. The territory then needs to be dug up qualitatively.

How to plant a plant

Top dressing can be added directly to the hole when planting a seedling. Ash 200 g, a shovel of rotted manure, as well as 10-12 g of superphosphate are added to one bush. You also need to pour up to ten liters of clean water into the hole. The seedling is lowered at an angle of about 45 degrees. The roots need to be carefully straightened. It is important to make a hole with a border around the bush and pour water on everything. The distance between the bushes is up to two meters.

Regularity of watering

The plant needs moisture, but waterlogging is unacceptable. It is important to do 3 waterings per season:

  • when forming berries;
  • after harvest;
  • before frost.

Pruning bushes

Prune the bushes in autumn and early spring. The first three years form a bush. 4-5 strong shoots should be left annually. Last year's branches are pruned to three buds. A bush four years old should have 17 to 25 branches.

With sanitary pruning, dry and damaged branches are removed.

Fertilizers

It is necessary to use organic and mineral fertilizers. In the spring months, 35 g of carbamide should be poured under each currant bush. When digging in the autumn, add:

  • potassium sulfate 20 g;
  • superphosphate 40 g;
  • humus 5 kg.

You can use universal formulations with nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and trace elements.

Shelter for the winter

In cold climates, you can wrap the currants, bending them to the ground. Some people lightly press it down with a brick. Put mulch on top. It is good to use garden heaters or agrofibre. In warm regions, currants do not need to be covered.
