There are no problems with the choice of building materials today, since their range is simply huge. Entering the construction market, you can get confused and forget why you came here at all. The shelves are simply littered with various materials and tools.
The choice of materials is very wide: from ordinary nails to liquid nails, from hand saws to electric ones, from steel to plastic fittings. Today I decided to talk about the latter.
You probably know that sellers often hide the truth or embellish it a little. Naturally, they also need to sell you a product and make money. Therefore, before going to the store or the market, I try to first look for information about the desired product in order to get acquainted with all its advantages and disadvantages. So I save myself from unscrupulous sellers and buying low-quality products.
When I came to the market for plastic fittings, the seller began to tell me about its excellent properties and qualities. I immediately suspected a catch, it can't be so rosy and cloudless. The seller assured that such reinforcement withstands three times more load than steel.
In addition, it has less weight, does not rust, and has a low thermal conductivity. Solid benefits, well, just a dream!
Of course, I want to buy durable, reliable and high quality materials. I was not very interested in the thermal conductivity of the reinforcement, and its weight was not a significant criterion either. So it turned out that the fiberglass fittings were perfect for me.
The seller, however, did not stop and continued to talk about his product, painting in colors its other advantages. According to him, such reinforcement has a smaller cross-sectional area, since it stretches better than steel. It turns out that and the section is smaller and the strength is greater!
It was then that I began to suspect that the seller was not telling me the whole truth. And here's why: when a crack appears in the concrete, the fiberglass reinforcement will gradually stretch. This means that she does not have such a high rigidity, as the seller assured me. When the reinforcement is deformed, the size of the crack in the concrete will increase. It turns out that the slab will cut the reinforcement at the place where the crack appeared.
Today, fiberglass products are widespread. They are used in the construction of various buildings and bridges. The main advantage of fiberglass is the absence of corrosion. If you plan to use such fittings, be sure to take note of the above information. It is advisable to opt for thicker fittings so that the structure can withstand the loads.
You don't always need to trust the sellers, or at least divide what they tell you into two. Their main goal is to sell the product, and they don't care about how it will work in the future.
