The money tree (crassula, bastard) is a perennial succulent plant known to many. It is believed that the money tree attracts prosperity, so pots with a fat woman can be found in almost every home of floriculture lovers.
Outwardly, the plant is recognizable: a tree-like trunk, thick glossy leaves. But few people know that a succulent plant can bloom. Crassula bloom is an infrequent phenomenon, usually observed in adult plants in autumn or winter. If you want your money tree to bloom, you will have to try and provide the plant with proper care.
1. Repot the plant as the crown grows
The size of the pot should correspond to the size of the crown of the bastard. If you notice that your green pet has "outgrown" the size of the pot, transplant it into a more spacious one. Don't worry: the money tree takes root very well.
Carefully remove the overgrown succulent from the cramped container along with the earthen clod and place in a larger one, adding fresh soil to it. Do not forget about the drainage layer - it must be laid on the bottom.
Clay and ceramic pots are best suited for keeping succulents. They absorb excess moisture well, thereby reducing the risk of waterlogging.
2. Provide access to sunlight
A money tree will bloom faster if you create conditions for it that are closest to natural.
Succulent plants love sunlight. With its lack, the branches, stem and leaves of the bastard become weak, flabby, faded. Therefore, the container with the plant must be placed on a windowsill or close to a window - preferably one facing the south side.
Keep in mind that on a hot summer day, the stems and leaves of crassula can be damaged by the scorching rays of the sun and get burned. In such weather, it is better to place the plant away from an aggressive light source.
3. Watering in moderation
The money tree, like other representatives of succulent plants, does not need frequent abundant watering. The most suitable mode of soil moistening is 1-2 times a week in summer and once a month in winter.
Water the money tree sparingly, take your time. Wait for the water to drain from the drain hole into the sump and empty it without letting the plant pot sit in the water.
With an excess of moisture, the leaves of the bastard can become covered with brown tubercles. To prevent the plant from dying, it is necessary to transplant it.
4. Feed the money tree with mineral fertilizers
Crassula will thrive in the soil intended for cacti and other varieties of succulent plants, diluted with coarse sand. In order for the money tree to be healthy and to bloom, it is necessary to regularly introduce mineral complexes containing phosphorus, nitrogen, potassium, calcium and other nutrients into the soil.
Do not overdo it with fertilizing: an excess of fertilizers, as well as a lack of them, can lead to the death of the plant.
5. Create comfortable temperature conditions
The fat woman needs to maintain a certain temperature regime. In the summer, be sure to take the plant pot out to the balcony or loggia, airing it. In autumn and winter, the money tree goes into dormancy: it practically does not grow. During this period, it is necessary to lower the temperature of its content - to approximately 12-16 degrees.
So that the flower does not freeze and die, make sure that the air temperature in the room does not fall below these indicators.
