How a trap store for a Kalashnikov assault rifle works

It is difficult to say exactly when the trap stores for automatic rifles appeared. According to some reports, for the first time, participants in armed conflicts in the Balkans thought of them after the collapse of the USSR. According to other sources, such mines have already been used in Afghanistan, and maybe even earlier in Africa. Be that as it may, the very fact of the existence of such an insidious thing makes the soldiers remember one simple truth.

The simple truth boils down to the following rule: any foreign objects lying on the ground (or anywhere else) in a war zone should not be touched by hands. This applies to literally everything, whether it's a harmless children's toy or a potentially useful machine shop. The reason for this strict approach is very simple: when creating booby traps in war, a wide variety of items are used.

The trap shop is the apotheosis of mining thought. Without special equipment, it is impossible to check whether an abandoned magazine is a trap or is actually a lost magazine with cartridges. Therefore, only specially trained people, sappers, can touch such things with their hands. The mine is designed to kill or maim an enemy soldier when trying to defuse the magazine. It does not matter how this will happen: whether the fighter tries to remove the cartridges manually to the reserve or uses the magazine to shoot. The result in any case will be extremely sad.

Store-trap - the device is quite complex and by no means trivial. The basis of such a mine is taken from an ordinary store, for example, from a Kalashnikov assault rifle. An explosive charge is placed inside, in which a detonator is installed. A mechanical striker is supplied to the detonator, which is connected to a cut-off magazine clamping spring. The one that makes the cartridges move up during firing or manual discharge of the magazine. The more the spring relaxes, the less pressure is exerted on the firing pin. At some point, the spring stops holding the striker, and it activates the detonator. The detonator interacts with the charge - an explosion.

The spring holding the striker over the detonator is pressed with the help of conventional cartridges. Usually half or a third of the store is charged. It depends on the size of the explosive charge and the size of the detonator. The most insidious thing is that in front of the indicator holes, through which you can check the degree of dustiness of the store, cartridges or shells are also placed. This is done so that the trap cannot be recognized from the outside. The fighter looks into the hole and sees a cartridge there, thinks that everything is fine and uses the store for its intended purpose. Everything ends sadly.
