Benefits of growing dill in a greenhouse

Some advantages of cultivating a green plant in greenhouse conditions in order to further sell the product:

  • conventional cultivation technology;
  • high demand for a fragrant plant;
  • lack of exacting care;
  • the minimum expenditure of labor and money in the cultivation of dill;
  • the roots do not grow on the sides, which means that you can sow a lot of seeds in a small garden bed.

The disadvantages include:

  • cut greens are not stored for long;
  • when growing dill all year round, it is necessary to warm the structure well;
  • the plant is demanding on the composition of the soil and optimal lighting.

Suitable Conditions

In order for the culture to quickly increase the green mass, the following conditions must be created for it:

  • lighting duration for dill is about 12-14 hours;
  • light nutrient soil;
  • the optimum air temperature is not lower than +20° C, soil - not less than +16° C;
  • the level of humidity of the earth is about 50%, air - up to 65-70%.

Preparation of planting material and soil

To increase soil fertility for every 1 sq. m. I bring in peat mixed with sand in a volume of 10 kg of each ingredient, add humus (2-3 kg).

I add humus:

  • urea (30 g);
  • superphosphate (20 g);
  • potassium salt (20 g).

Then (a day before sowing) I water the soil and loosen it. I make grooves up to 1.5 cm deep.

Two days before planting, I soak the seeds in a warm, weak solution of potassium permanganate. Then I drain and refill with warm liquid.

Landing technology

You don't need to sow all the seeds at once. It is better to plant in parts every one and a half weeks. Thus, it will be possible to use fresh herbs continuously.

I sow the seeds in grooves and cover with earth. Until shoots appear, I spray with a warm liquid.

Aftercare

For dill, it is necessary to organize high-quality lighting with the help of fitolamps. Caring for a crop in greenhouse conditions is almost the same as in an open garden.

Watering

Seedlings should be watered weekly with a sprayer as needed. The liquid for irrigation should be warm.

top dressing

I spend the first dressing one and a half months after sowing. At this time, dill needs nitrogen. You can use urea (10 l of liquid / 1 tsp. l. substances) or mullein diluted in water in a ratio of 10:1.

Mineral fertilizer based on nitrogen should be sprayed on the leaves and soil. Top dressing with a solution of mullein is carried out in the form of watering under the root.

Weeding with loosening

I do weeding as soon as the dill grows a little. After watering, I loosen.

When the dill reaches a height of up to 10 cm, I thin out the plants. I remove strong bushes, use them for drying, selling or freezing.

Ways to combat diseases and parasites

If care is violated, dill can be damaged by diseases such as:

  • black leg - to eliminate the disease, ash powder with "Fundazol" is used in equal proportions, cultures and soil are powdered;
  • powdery mildew - the affected dill is removed, the rest is powdered with ash powder.

Dill cannot be treated with chemicals, as toxins accumulate in its ground part. Such plants can only be used for reproduction.

Harvesting

Usually dill ripens in two months. It is cut off, the remaining sprouts are watered, after about a week new shoots reappear.

Cultivation of dill in a greenhouse building is a fairly profitable business. It is only necessary to properly prepare the greenhouse and create optimal conditions for plants.
