I bought two UPS APCs for 900 and 1000 rubles apiece. It is quite possible that if we neglect the shabby appearance, this is much better than new UPS with a price of 5-10 times higher.

Avito sells a lot of old ups at very low prices. I decided to take an APC and one must be in a metal case (I need it for a battery analyzer, it will be turned on almost always and I really don’t want the UPS to cause a fire). The second plastic for the laboratory (the plastic there, by the way, is non-flammable, I checked).

APC Back-UPS CS 350 made in India in 2002. Unexpectedly, the lead accumulator stands vertically in it. Although it is gel, I have always believed that the correct position of the battery is only horizontal, contacts up.

APC Back-UPS 400i made in Ireland in 1997.

This monster weighs 8.3 kg with a battery (plastic Back-UPS CS 350 - 5.2 kg). The dimensions and complexity of the board are impressive (in modern ups, there is probably a tiny scarf with a processor and a dozen parts).

Wow, how much stuff is there!

Surprised by the difficulty of replacing the battery. It seems that the developers did not bother at all with the fact that the battery would have to be changed. Not only do you need to remove the cover, the battery is held by a metal bracket, clamped on one side by a transformer, on the other, screwed with two self-tapping screws, which are very difficult to crawl into.

Of course, the batteries in these old Avito UPSs are dead, so you need to add more to the price of the ups itself 1300-1500 rubles for a normal battery (in the very near future I will publish a battery test of this price categories).

On the one hand, the age of electronics 20-25 years is a little scary, on the other hand, in those days everything was done with high quality, not a single I did not find a swollen capacitor on the UPS boards, everything works fine and I suspect that it will work the same amount, or even more.

Peace for everyone!
