ISvet spotlights with fair power and IC driver

  • Apr 23, 2022

At a time when the market is filled with low-quality spotlights on linear drivers with one hundred percent ripple and "fake" power, the Krasnodar company iSvet has released a series of spotlights with a pulsed (IC) driver, without pulsation and with an honest power. I have tested all spotlights of the series.

There are eight models in the USL-104 line - 10, 20, 30, 50, 70, 100, 150, 200W. The color temperature of all 6500K.
Exactly the same searchlights in a white case are called USL-105.

The smallest ten-watt spotlight has 12 one-watt LEDs. There are 240 exactly the same LEDs in a two-hundred-watt monster.

On the spotlight box it is clearly indicated that an IC driver is used, operation is supported without changing the brightness at a mains voltage of 100 to 240 volts, no ripple is guaranteed.

Spotlights are equipped with extended wires 30-35 centimeters (depending on power). For additional protection of the driver, varistors are installed in the floodlights (one in low-power models, two in models from 50 W).

I measured the parameters of the spotlights after a half-hour warm-up.

The power of all floodlights is close to the indicated one within the acceptable limits (lower by 2-9%, according to GOST a deviation of up to 10% is allowed).

Unfortunately, I do not have the technical ability to accurately measure the luminous flux of spotlights, but I went with 30-watt model to a friendly laboratory with a large sphere and received a luminous flux of 2420 lm at the declared 2400 lm. Since the spotlights use the same LEDs and the power is close to the declared one, the rest of the spotlights have a luminous flux close to the specified one.

The light pulsation coefficient does not exceed 1%, and for most models it is below 0.5%.

Spotlights really shine with the same brightness when the supply voltage changes over a very wide range (in fact, they have a built-in stabilizer). The table column Umin indicates the voltage at which the brightness decreased by 5%.

The spotlights use high-quality LEDs, the measured color rendering index CRI (Ra) was 83-86.

Spotlights can be used with switches that have an indicator.

The manufacturer gives a 2-year warranty on the projectors.

As an example, I compared a 50-watt iSvet floodlight with a cheap floodlight that says the same power. The difference in size is immediately visible, the weight is different, more than twice - 499 and 236 grams.

On the back of the case, a cheap spotlight has fins just for show, iSvet has real fins that improve cooling. Also note the difference in wire length.

A cheap spotlight consumes 33.4 watts (deceived by a third!), iSvet - 46.4 watts. iSvet is almost one and a half times brighter than a cheap spotlight due to honest power and higher efficiency.

The cheap 100% pulsation of light is unhealthy, the iSvet has no pulsation.

The brightness of a cheap one depends on the voltage in the network, if the voltage in the network drops to 180 volts (as happens in rural areas), its brightness will decrease by more than half. iSvet has the same brightness at any voltage.

With a high probability, the iSvet floodlight will work much longer than a cheap one due to better cooling (due to the large and massive body) and more advanced driver electronics.

Now, when 90% of the spotlights on the market have unhealthy light pulsation, and the parameters indicated on the packaging are almost always do not correspond to reality, the new iSvet spotlights please with honest parameters, the complete absence of pulsation and the presence of a built-in stabilizer. It's a pity that iSvet only produces 6500K cold light projectors.

Peace for everyone!
