However, as soon as the Gerald Ford was put into service, they immediately began to disassemble it for spare parts. What is the matter and where is the Pentagon looking?
U.S. Navy officials commenting on the transfer of parts from an aircraft carrier still under construction "Kennedy" to the already built "Gerald Ford", stated that this practice is absolutely normal. However, the fact that a huge number of components important for the operation of the vessel moves to the Ford cannot but cause surprise. Even pumps and power system components have been replaced. The Americans say that a set of implemented measures is needed for the speedy commissioning of the vessel.
Meanwhile, the ill-fated Gerald Ford, only in terms of the number of official breakdowns, has already caught up with another lame mare of the US Navy - the destroyer URO of the Zamvolt type. At the latter, the power plant regularly broke down, the electrical circuits were junk and the missile launch systems were knocked down. The new aircraft carrier also has problems with the power system, as well as equipment for controlling the takeoff and landing of aircraft. There are also problems with 11 backlashes for lifting "winged beasts" from the hangars to the deck.

However, the problems of the new aircraft carrier should not be treated with much gloating, because for all the abnormality of the situation for the Americans, it is at the same time quite normal for the US Navy. If only because the problems on the new lead aircraft carrier make it possible to extend the life of proven vehicles in the fleet. Childhood illnesses on such complex equipment manifested themselves in the first years of operation throughout the history of the fleet. And this is not unique to the USA.
Do not forget that the Gerald Ford is a fundamentally new ship, on which neither sailors nor officers have yet served. Until recently, most of the crew members knew their ship only from drawings and textbooks. Ahead of the aircraft carrier and its crew are waiting for intense months of first acquaintance, and designers and engineers - many more sleepless nights in an attempt to solve the problems that have been revealed on the new technology.
