Just recently I started repairs at home. In the process of repairing it came to the kitchen, the idea to make a comfortable floor heating. For this I used the OSB boards. The concrete floor was covered with PE foam pad, and then on top consolidated OSB panels, and in the end spread a nice linoleum.
But my work sharply criticized from an environmental point of view. Allegedly this floor laying method is not safe since OSB plates will eventually release harmful substances which are used in the manufacturing process of the material.
At first, I did not betray this value. I think one or two comments to the account of my gender is not an indicator, but when the same thing I suggested a couple of dozen people, pushed me to the idea to think about the problem.
By itself, I am not very sensitive, and scare me tales and fables quite difficult. I took into consideration in regard to all that I have said and what I know actually, but I know quite a few.
Here you can see a small number of pictures, which show the OSB boards in large quantities on store warehouses, the windows of building supermarkets (OBI, Maksidom, Castorama, Leroy Merlin and others).
Imagine for a moment what is the number of plates in the warehouses of these stores, while one needs to be allocated a huge the amount of harmful substances and have a negative impact on all customers who are there, and the more children in the first turn.
Perhaps someone will say that the people who come to buy something, do not stay long, and are not necessarily close to the plates. But, if you think about, the staff who work there every day, breathing the same all this and feels great. Do not forget about the actual warehouse workers and porters, who are together with these materials a hundred times more than ordinary workers and consumers, and, nevertheless, with their health everything is good.
The question arises!?
Workers in warehouses and construction market - is the most stupid people who do not care about your health? Maybe they pay extra for the harm? Or sometimes necessary to include head and to think logically - and there really so harmful use of OSB and particleboard materials in your home?
I do not argue that the manufacture of OSB sheets using glue and other chemical materials, and to some extent this is not a super ecological product, but think about when you go outside. Compare how much harmful substances you breathe in every day from the exhaust gases of vehicles, emissions from factories. Not to mention the use of harmful drinks and foods that are less natural lately. Think of at least one case where a man died from fumes OSB or particle board harmful substances.
Myths and horror stories that are spread about the type of material - no more than a splash of someone's violent fantasies and phobias of all the new and unknown.
