Last year, I visited the city of Dzerzhinsk in Nizhny Novgorod. The purpose of my trip was a factory "Rope"Where I went at the invitation of the company Kuvalda.ru. The plant manufactures ropes and climbing ropes. When I went to the factory, I was expecting to see the usual production and see how weaved and wove ropes. What I saw at the factory, I was amazed. I am sure it will hit you, too.


The plant employs modern equipment, but in one of the shops of the plant remained a unique production - "lift". This production runs from the date of opening of the plant in 1875, and it works so far on the same equipment, which is already 140 years old! It is possible that this is the oldest manufacturing facility in the world that is still in use today. I recommend the factory to apply to the Guinness Book of Records. By the way, the plant is 55 years older than the city in which it is located.


Cable car - it is a huge hall, half a kilometer long.

There is no electricity - a purely mechanical machine. He moves and all its mechanisms work due to the rotation of the side wheel through which prokinut drive cable extending along the entire shop.

This mechanical machine is controlled by three rudders and four arms.


140 years ago there was no phone and two-way radios and communication system was necessary. Shop a long, noisy equipment and 500 meters shout useless. Since those times preserved signaling system that allows working on the movable machine to transmit signals at the beginning of the working plant. These are three of the rope, stretching over the cable car.

The movable machine pulls the strands to the entire length of the cable car and twists them.


In a single pass may curl up to 12 strands. To strands while pulling no slack, do not get dirty, and have the same tension at regular intervals under these backups are substituted with teeth.
