The main disadvantage of classic composting of garden and kitchen waste is a long wait for the result. Minimum deadline for receipt of fertile lands rich in trace elements - at least 1 year. Of course, it is not necessary to take almost nothing during this time, but it is still quite a long time.
Accelerate the process of composting is possible by means of lime or purchased stimulants, but life would still be quite large. The only way out of this situation will be the rapid composting in bags. What is it? Now I tell.
1. What is faster the compost?
Quick compost - it is a simple technology based on composting in individual sealed bags. This approach allows you to get the finished product already after 2-3 months. That is, if to lay garden and food waste in the early summer, then to fall you get finished compost.
Process rotting is accelerated by airtight package, moisture and lack of air circulation. Method completely environmentally friendly and is not related to the industrial chemistry.
2. The pros and cons of this method of
Like any other method of composting, fast compost has its pluses and minuses. Looking ahead to say that the positive aspects of a lot more.
pros
Rapid composting in bags has a lot of advantages, here are just some of them:
- The main advantage - it's speed composting. Deadlines allow more precise planning of planting and saves your time greatly;
- Packages with compost can be positioned anywhere in the area. They can be moved and divided into several groups. This saves space and allows you to hide the bags from prying eyes;
- Unlike classical compost pit, raw material in bags do not need to mix with a shovel. Quite a few times to turn the container from side to side and gently shake;
- Sealed bags do not give a spread of unpleasant smells. Therefore, the packets can be put close to the places of permanent location of people;
- Composting materials is not eroded by rain and birds scatter throughout the site;
- After maturing compost mixture obtained cleaner and healthier than in classical compost pit. The whole reason - tightness. It is excluded from viruses, harmful insects, weed seeds and other parasites;
- Compost bags look pretty well, so you can put them next to a neighbor's land or a seating area.
In addition to all the above, for myself, I found another plus. The bags can be signed, and experiment with different content. In the compost pit to do this will not work.
Minuses
Of course, this method has some drawbacks.
- Bags of compost will have to buy each year. In fact, they are disposable. I have never been able to make two compost in one bag. They quickly torn, stretched and pierced;
- Bags and tape to seal cost money. Let small, but it still costs;
- Bag need to fill immediately. Do not get put off waste gradually. For the first 4-5 bags is not a problem, but then it becomes more difficult. However, the classic pit still has not been canceled.
Perhaps this is all the disadvantages that I could find. However, one day I tore the bag and all the contents had to shift to another, but it was an isolated incident.
3. We make a quick compost
Preparation rapid compost in bags is not tricky. First of all, we need dense black (or dark blue) packets from 200 to 250 liters. Smaller is better not to take, as they term composting may be more.
The thing is that the raw materials in packages small volume and dries quickly cooled, which affects the timing of decay.
Immediately please be strong rope and tape, you will need it for sealing packages.
The bags are placed the same compost material, as in the pit, with one exception. Do not take:
- The tops of tomatoes and potatoes;
- Peel of citrus fruits;
- Newly fallen leaves;
- Pieces of wood and fresh sawdust.
All content must be healthy, otherwise the infection will spread immediately inside the closed package.
Once the bag is full, add the ammonium nitrate and polstakana 2 cups pure wood ash. Composting material tightly compacted and hermetically sealed in a package.
To be sure that the bag is closed tightly, click on it in an attempt to squeeze out the remaining air. If it does not, the bag is closed tightly.
Leave bags can be anywhere, but it is better if the site will be sunny and warm. When rotting temperature plays a significant role.
After 2-3 months, the compost will be ready. Here's a simple and quick way to cook an excellent fertilizer.
