As a rule, in villages, small villages or in private sectors located within the city, people live in wooden houses. This is due to the fact that wood is the most economically profitable material suitable for the construction of residential buildings.

But, unfortunately, not all owners of such buildings do not know how to insulate their home. Many make serious mistakes, completely negating all efforts and money spent. Let's talk about this in more detail.

1. Expanded polystyrene is not the best option for insulation

I do not want to seem like an ardent opponent of expanded polystyrene, but as a heater, this material does not show the best properties. It is synthetic, and therefore practically incompatible with wood.

In my opinion, it is best to insulate wooden houses with natural materials that can "breathe". I like it more mineral or basalt wool.

If you have already bought polystyrene foam, I am not agitating you to sell it or throw it away. It can be used to insulate the foundation or basement of the building.

2. Walls affected by fungus are unsuitable for insulation

Before proceeding with the direct insulation of the house, it is necessary to carefully inspect the walls for fungal infections. Make sure they are dry and free of pests.

If the insulation is laid on damp surfaces, then soon various bacteria will begin to actively multiply there. People in such a house will not be able to live long, since the walls will quickly collapse.

If you notice bugs in the logs, I recommend replacing them. It will be useful to treat the walls with an antiseptic. After the walls are completely dry, you can start insulation. Experience shows that all this work is best done when the weather is warm and dry.

When insulating a house with mineral wool, it is strictly forbidden to wet the material. As soon as the insulation is laid on the walls, cover it with a film to protect it from moisture. After that, you can begin to clad the walls.
