It does not take a genius to understand which place in the bath is the most vulnerable and short-lived. Of course, this is gender. Cold air always descends, condensation forms on the floor, and therefore the tree begins to quickly deteriorate and rot.

The floor in the bath will no longer rot. Two proven methods: modern and old-fashioned

This process is natural and irreversible. But, if decay cannot be defeated, then it can be significantly slowed down. I want to talk about effective methods that will increase the operational life of your plank floor in a bathhouse by several decades.

Unfortunately, rot is not the only problem with boards. Mold and fungus also actively reproduce on them. Some people prefer to cover the wooden floor with paint or varnish. But I will note that the effect of this event is not much. Sometimes, using varnish can even become harmful. Steam and moisture will penetrate the boards, but they are unlikely to find a way back.

Special impregnations that penetrate the wood will help to save the boards. But on the scale of a bath, impregnations alone are indispensable.

The most popular way today

We are talking about the antiseptic Neomid 200, which is intended for baths and saunas. It is sold in the form of a concentrate. One bottle of Neomid produces 20 liters of antiseptic.

The main disadvantage of this method is a pungent, unpleasant odor. When diluting Neomid with water, the stench is slightly dulled. Since the antiseptic is highly effective, many are not afraid of the smell. All is fair in war! In addition, over time, the amber will disappear. True, the smell of wood from the bathhouse will also disappear.

After processing, the boards darken a little. According to the manufacturers, Neomid is not dangerous for people, since it does not emit harmful substances into the air. The preparation contains biocides used in the production of certain medicines and cosmetics.

Experience shows that regular use of Neomid (every two years) completely removes decay from the boards.

Proven old-fashioned method

Having carefully examined my bath, I came to the conclusion that rotting begins with boards, not lags. To avoid problems, you need to initially approach the laying of floors wisely. My grandfather worked as a carpenter for many years, and therefore knew some tricks.

In a nutshell: you need to process the boards in such a way that moisture does not accumulate on their surface. Typically, in a bath, water stays on the floor until it evaporates. As a result, most of it is absorbed into the boards.

Therefore, on each beam it is necessary to make slopes on both sides. And when laying the boards, leave a centimeter gap between them. Then the water will drain under the floor and the risk of rotting is minimized.

Note that antiseptic treatment can be avoided in this case. And the wooden floor will serve you for at least half a century!
