In every second apartment and private house today you can see ball valves. These fittings are often installed on plumbing and heating systems. Such cranes are trusted by users, because they are reliable, practical, their operation does not cause any problems and questions.
Unfortunately, they often fail ahead of schedule. There are certain negative factors that have a detrimental effect on the operation of ball valves. We are talking about increased water hardness, illiterate operation of valves, etc.
However, you should not despair, there is a simple and reliable way that will increase the service life of the cranes. I want to share with you a little trick today.
Initially, let's figure out why ball valves break. This valve works according to the following principle:
- 1. The valve body contains a small, smooth ball.
- 2. When the valve is in the closed position, this ball presses the PTFE ring against the body. This ensures a good sealing of the shut-off valves.
- 3. If the tap is opened, then liquid begins to flow through the pipes.
It turns out that the ball valve works only in the "closed" and "open" positions.
Unfortunately, many users do not know about this and operate the valves incorrectly.
Often, ball valves are only half closed in an attempt to reduce the pressure of the supplied water.
Because of this, over time, the armature loses its tightness and generally fails.
The bottom line is that salts, particles and impurities contained in tap water, when the ball valve is incompletely closed, gradually envelop the walls of the ball.
The ball valve cannot be used to regulate the water pressure, it is not intended for this purpose!
How to increase the service life of this valve?
To prevent the crane from failing ahead of time, open and close it several times every six months. These actions will serve as an excellent preventive measure and prolong the life of the valve.
