Many gardeners and summer residents know that digging beds is not an easy task. Lumps of dirt that constantly stick to the shovel can complicate the digging process. Some of them can be knocked down, but this does not solve the problem. Large chunks remain on the canvas, making the instrument heavier and more uncomfortable.
Since I am almost all the time in the garden during the season, I have been trying for a long time to find an effective solution to this problem. You could say that I even did some research that allowed me to find out the following points.
Why is the shovel blade a good place for earth to stick?
When the tool is brand new, even shiny, there are fewer clods of dirt sticking to it. Over time, the problem gets worse. This can be explained by the fact that, with use, the working surface of the shovel becomes covered with scratches, chips, and rust in some places. Therefore, the earth begins to stick more strongly.
You can take care of the shovel, wash it and rub it regularly, but this will not save the surface from minor damage. This is a natural process of wear and tear on working tools.
How can earth stick to be prevented?
The first option that comes to mind is to buy a titanium shovel. The surface of such a tool will not be subject to minor damage. However, the titanium price tag "bites", many summer residents "will not pull" such costs.
Some people manage to paint the canvas of the shovel. I do not recommend doing this, because the paint will quickly wear off from work and remain in the ground.
I came to the conclusion that the tool just needs to be sanded regularly. A grinder is suitable for removing large damage. Small scratches can be removed with sandpaper. The main thing is that the surface is smooth and shiny. It may not be easy to achieve this, but the effect will delight you.
After processing, you will notice that much less soil sticks to the shovel, making the work easier and faster.
